how much to pay on a ford 8n

Would 400 be a good price to pay on a non running ford 8n. I would like to get a non running one and wasn't sure how much to pay.

depends on what non running means, at 400 your ok even if it has a rod hanging out the side of the block, non running can mean anything from that to it just hasnt been started in a long time, what condition are the tires in, the fronts arnt a issue but those back ones cost money! how is the tin? find out as much as you can about its history there are non runners and then theres just plain junk too , for a first fixer upper the ford N is a good choise as there about as simple as it gets mechanicly and parts are easy to find, this site here has most of them under tractor parts

A lot depends on the tractor condition, tire condition and location
but in my area $400 is about right for a non-runner.
Basically scrap price since you don't know what you're getting into.
At least parts are readily available and relatively cheap for the old Fords.

Quick, steal it! if it's that good you would be stealing it at $400
I am sure you could break it (I think you guys talk about parting it out?) and get good money on it!

That's an early model 8N with the front mount distributor.
Some (most?) prefer the later models with the side mount.

On the right rear tire, something is leaking down the side.
Since the tire is still up, it is probably the rear axle seal.

Wouldn't scare me any. If you decide against it, post the ad.
Maybe someone else here would like to pick it up.
I would if it was close to me in central Michigan.

I would love to buy this one but he wants 1200 and i need to save more money first. I wanted one in this general condition for it would be cheaper thank you for all the reply

In my opinion, if he wants $1200 for it, RUN, don't walk away. You can get a lot more tractor for less money in a different brand. I think 8N's are way over rated for what is there and the prices they bring. Chris

Here's 2 more pics of this one.

Well you've gone from $400 to three times that much.
As much as I like the N series Fords, a non-runner is not worth $1200.

The tires on that one in you pictures are worth $800 or so, IF you
had a tractor to put them on. Without something they fit, they're
of no use to you either.

I doubt you will find one in that shape with tires that good for $400,
but if you do, I would say go ahead and get it.

Parts are available and you can get lots of help here on YT.
Check out the 9N/2N/8N forum for N specific information.

(quoted from post at 19:15:55 01/12/14) Put the $400 towards a running Massey 135.

Man would be a fool to do that with the dealer support we have here for Massey. Can't wait on shipping every time you need something.

if thats the actual tractor it should already be in your yard! those rear tires alone are worth 400, it looks all there so it shouldnt be a huge deal to make it run
