I found this in my shed this summer and it took me awhile to figure out what it was. As near as I can tell, it is for measuring quarts of milk in a can, and by looking at the scale on the stick, it is for two different size cans.

I think!

Interesting find anybody know what the dents in the strainers that fit on them came from? Nothing like bounding milk down .anybody got pics of can stirrers .so many memories thanks.
one more cat sitting on strainer licking cream off .or who had cats pull up for a squirt

Dents from slamming the strainer in the can opening when the strainer cloth started to clog?

I won't say what was sometimes clogging the strainer. LOL

3 b arn cats were always primed and ready for a wee bit of warm milk delivered by airmail. One legged milking stool!!! Jim

Milking stools now thats a farm topic ours was a 4x4 with a 2x4 nailed across. bought a store bought stool great cow pokers and the got mad about it to

PLZ don"t remind me of can stirrers! Spent too much time with them cuz "parental unit" was too cheap to put in a can cooler. Like too many other pissant jobs the kids had to do. All the rest left home Monday after graduation. After some deliberation, I"ll be kind and respectful, and say nothing more about why I stayed for 3 years.

Coldest watermelon I remember ever eating came after a day in the milk cooler. A high school buddy's dad paid $1500.00 for a bulk tank (circa 1960s.) I thought he was rich.

I'll be darned. Never saw one. In the receiving room, all of the milk cans from one patron were dumped in to a stainless steel tank what was on an old dial scale and weighed. There were two tanks. They kept on dumping the next guys milk in the empty tank while the other one got pumped out.
