At times like this I miss my dog

I'd always make her sit and then speak up for it.
She knew the drill. Wouldn't let out a woof but more of a WOW.
Tail would be going a mile a minute.
Lot of happiness from a few licks from an empty container.
When she was done it was clean enough to put bolts or small parts in.

I lost a dearly loved dog almost 4 years ago and it's still hard on me and I think of him often. I have another dog and I love him too but they truly are individuals and one can't really replace another. My old dog always brought his dinner dish to me and pushed it up in my lap when I was eating to ask for food.

Man, don't I know what you mean! We lost ours in September, and I still haven't become used to him not being here. Every time I go outside, I expect him to be waiting at the door with that tennis ball in his mouth. He loved to play ball! When my daughter went back to work after my wife died, Bubba helped me hold on to my sanity. I would sit and talk to him about my problems, or cry, and he would just sit and listen, or lay his head on my knee to console me. Few people realize just how intelligent and understanding they are.

Lost my Shorthair pointer "Huxley" on Nov. 7, 2013 after 13 years. Never will forget him. He had me wrapped around his paw for a lot of years. Now we put my father of 92 years on hospice care just a couple of weeks ago but mentally he has been gone a long time. Hasn't been a good period of time so far but we will go on.

Yup. We lost one this passed Fall. We have another - but she not a REPLACEMENT.
The new one is 6 1/2 months old. I made the mistake of letting her lick out the filter from the milk bucket one day. Now, she sees me grab the bucket, and starts dancing! She will sit on a pillow in our dining room, and watch the back door, waiting for me to bring the full bucket back in from the barn! Then, the REAL dancing begins!

Had 2 Huskies, brothers, from puppy hood until both were about 16. Last 1 went about 4 years ago, still pull in driveway and look to see them running up to greet us. Excellent watch dogs, if they barked someone was where they shouldn"t be; believe either would defend my wife to their death. Once in awhile, usually in cold weather they would "sing" for a few minutes-sounded just like wolves. Still miss them.

I know how you feel. I still miss my Cocker Spaniel that passed away in August. Just cannot get over loosing him to move on to get a new dog. Every once in awhile I get the urge to get another one,..but then I back down and figure it is not time yet. I guess he spoiled me and I couldn"t find another dog as good as him.

My beagle died of cancer, and I am positive it was caused by those danged Chinese "Duck jerky" that all the stores were selling. He had the exact symptoms and it was about a year later it comes out (just recently) that the things were tainted with some unknown cancer causing agent.

The internet is full of lawsuits over the deal, but I dont have any proof that I fed him the stuff.

I lost 2 to the orange chicken wrapped rawhide sticks from you
know where...where everything else comes from. Vet said total
intestinal shut down. Found 11 pages of rants on the same thing
from others later on. Store where I bought them failed to reply to
my warning and they are still on the shelves. You are right. How do
you prove it? You don't and they know it. I now read the label on
anything going in my current dog's mouth and NO food from over
there.
