Old local picture

Here's a picture of a location that some of you might know. It's the intersection of what's now M66 and M57 two miles south of Sheridan Michigan looking south. That's Frank Wilson's (State Senator Judy Emmons's Dad) barn on the left.

That's for sure. Franks house and barn look the same. The barn on the other side has been gone for 40 years or more, but a definite lack of asphalt,a stop light, two gas station/convenience stores and a used car dealer.

Been by that corner lots of times on my way to a buddies in Cadillac. I see telephone poles in the picture, any idea when it was taken?

So if you take a right at that intersection, you end up in Greenville (if I have it right). My 2nd great grandfather lived in Greenville. At age 40 he enlisted in Mich 6th Cavalry and was killed in the Battle of Cedar Creek (Civil War).

I'd run acrossed that photo somewhere before, but it sure doesn't look that way today. If you were to put at that spot when that picture was taken, I'd have no clue where I was! How did those horse and buggies survive survive without a stoplight and turn lanes?

It hasn't been all that long since the light wasn't there. Traffic on 57 used to have to stop. 66 went straight through. Doesn't seem to me like it's been all that long ago.
I should go take a picture of it now,but unless I caught the light red, that could be a deadly attempt.

Me either, but once you know, those buildings haven't changed much at all. Like I said, the barn on the right is gone, but that house still looks about the same. I'm thinking that barn was there when Dale Fisher moved in there. He built a new house and barn a quarter mile south. I don't remember anymore if the barn was there when he moved out or not.

When we lived in Ionia, we crossed that spot many times. My wife had a cousin that was an optometrist in Greenville, Dan Dibble I think was his name.

Ya,that name's familiar. I think we went to different schools together for about three years one summer.

Does anyone remember a Dr. Samonian in Greenville in the late 40s, early 50s? We lived on Harvard Rd. near Angel Lake south of M-57 and my mom went there for liver shots. I think he went back to school because he misdiagnosed.

That's about 8 miles from my place and I wouldn't have
recognized it if you hadn't pointed out the house and barn!
That's Allis Chalmers corner now it seems. ;)

Here are some more pictures. It's neat that you can still see the barn and house on the left. They look to be exactly the same.

Been through that intersection several times. Headed somewhat that way this week-end. Going up to Mount Pleasant for a funeral. My cousin (A Vietnam Vet) passed away earlier this week.

Pretty much the same yep. I think that wing might have been added to the east side of the barn and they built a one stall garage and small office on the side of the house. Frank sold Pioneer seed and Badger equipment. He was pretty particular about things. It's starting to slide a little. His son in law hires some people who, well, let's just say don't work well unsupervised and they're kind of rough on things.
