Hydraulic leaak on 504 international

This does not show up in the parts manual at the dealers shop so I'm hoping someone here may be able to help. This little shaft is on the right side of the transmission housing just behind the lift levers. It is leaking and looks like it may have a seal in it somewhere. Any comments would be appreciated.

Take the seat off, then the large cover plate underneith. Unside you will find a 'standpipe'.

Take the standpipe out and put 'er back together.

Leak stopped!

Well to the best of my knowledge, the 504 has a shift lever in the middle, and a TA shift lever on the LEFT. No "shift levers" on the right.

Could you post a picture of the area where you are seeing the problem?

I tried posting a picture, but I guess it failed I'll try again.

Hey Fred,

Is that shaft about 1/2 inch in diameter???? If so there is an O ring on it. IIRC, the valve/cylinder combination has to be removed along with a bunch of the linkage to get the shaft out. PITA.

You might try Allen's method but I'll bet you have to go into it. Hytran is bad to leak.

If it's anything like the 544/656/etc., etc., etc,

There is no reason in the world for that oil level to be that high other than cause a leak at that seal.

Take the standpipe out and it drops the level below the shaft.

How did you get that picture to post?
Thank you very much for the replies, but I'll have to show my ignorance again and ask where the sand pipe is located.
The top is off and I've removed the hyd. cylinder. So far I've been able to order the oil seal that presses into the housing for the 3 point hitch levers.

Guess I was thinking 544, but does it look anything like this in yours? Hitch lever shaft(s) at the lower left?

The stand pipe is there to keep the parts flooded with hydraulic oil for lubrication and to keep them from rusting.
