How many lady semi drivers live in your area found out today we have a dozen within 5 miles of where we live .I knew of 5 but didn't think there were so many in this little town.

Having to deal with them in the Xmas tree business some can
be a real pain in the well you what.
One time this lady drove her truck off into the ditch the rear
wheel was 4 in off the ground on the right side. She all upset
when we used the IH 1066 to pull her out she sure we would
pull something off. We kooked th chain to the hook in the
bumper if that comes off the whole frame wil come with it. We
got her out and she kept looking for damage that we might
have did to her truck, hell she's the one that drove it off into
the ditch.

Does it really matter? women need jobs too.As long
as they can drive well, who cares.I see more and more
women doing nontraditional jobs.I think it's
great! If she wasnt driveing, she might be on welfare. If the job is
available, they have the skills and desire,go for
it!!!In my experience,The women that I have hired for harvest drivers were better, more careful, took better care of the trucks that the men did.

When I had my triaxle dump there were a couple ladies that drove trucks that I hauled with quite a bit. They were both good drivers, but one was kind of a pain because she drove fast and would never take a break. If the haul was say, 45 minutes round trip she might make an extra load in the full day compared to everyone else.

My wife has a half-sister who drives a bull hauler.

After meeting the gal, you somehow can't imagine her doing anything else. I suspect she could also out-swear most of the male drivers.

thats why i like and admire woman who do non traditinal roles.my aunt was that way farmed on her own 50s into 70s always got the short end because people didnt like it.
one other that i cant help but have a lot of respect for is lady vet probably weighs in around 100 lbs no problems with large animals scares the heck out of me shes gonna get hurt but women vets are differnt men slap them up aganst the wall women can sweet talk the most ornery animal less stress on critter

We had a couple of gals that brought asphalt out to us on the paving spread. No complaints.

lady rendering truck driver goes by my place nearly every day. Her truck has a crows nest boom with a grapple like what you see on a tub grinder. She doesn't waste any time getting down the road. Jim

Funny you should ask. Right now my son's wife is on her first run after finishing truck driving school.
we live in NC,but she went to Phoenix, AZ to school. It's along story, and I won't go into it here. You notice I said, "My son's wife," not "my daughter in law", because we never have got along very well.

My wife of 17 years raised 4 kids by herself and was not afraid of trying anything to support her children. She worked the usual office jobs until she found out she could make more money working man jobs. She started out on rollers on highway projects. Worked at underground mines as an equipment operator to name just a couple. When we married she was driving OTR. After we married she got bored and went to work for about 1 1/2 years driving a Caterpiller 793 Haul truck at an open pit mine. Really big truck, hauls 250 tons of rock. Had to stop when the shovel dumped a bucket load on the very tail of the dump bed and slammed her around pretty good. She is 5'2" and weighs 120lb. Not afraid of anything, including me.

My sister has drove otr all her life,Shes now retired and works part time,80 hours a week for a recycleing co.She hauls scrap metal. She is a good driver. She was driving a pete roll off last summer becaues one driver was off,and lost a front tire coming around the capital beltway,Thank God the truck didnt turn over, but she ended up in the mediam strip, call her boss, told him she was ok except she broke one of her finger nails,he paid for a complete nail job

Lots of women hit the road once the kids leave home
and they get rid of "the old man". I do see a few
with kids in the truck doing the home school thing
too now.

We had a very feminine purchasing agent in our department. When some new Mack tractors came in, I had her climb into the cab and sit behind the wheel.

All of a sudden, she blurted out: "I can see myself bullying my way down the freeway in one of these; what would it take to become a truck driver?. She made a face when I told her that the first thing she'd have to do is get rid of her husband because she wouldn't be able to spend much time at home.

The fellow that laid out our unloading dock (ME) really screw up. It is a bad place kind down hill and just about impossible to get into with a spread axel trailer.. Great Plains trucking from the Land Pride plant in Selina KS. use these trailer to deliver our Land Pride stuff. Boys in the shop have just got use to going out and backing the rig in for them. So fast forward in rolls a load of Land Pride, they all go out to get it in place, out rolls a 100 lb blond Barbie . She gives one look runs down to the back corner of the lot puts it in the "Hole" in one try, sure impressed the boys. Now they all watch for the "Girl for Land Pride". Said she had been driving semi for 7 years.

lady driver for westfield auger when come to my shop
to be assemble. She was good at it. actually even
the ones on building grain bin crews were better to
work with than some of the men. my wife ran the
combine for years when we played the farm game.

ne summer we had a couple of gals on the combine crew with us. The two gals had fewer breakdowns than the guys because they were more careful and not as rammy. We quietly joked their ba**s didn't overpower their brains. Jim

Just a story. During the 2002 drought, lots of West river guys were coming to our area to bale CRP hay. One day I was putting fuel in at the station and on the other side of me a day cab truck pulling double 40ft trailers loaded with hay (10 ft. wide) pulls in for fuel. I was not really paying attention but then noticed about a 20 some year old girl wearing a cowboy hat and barefooted putting the nozzle in the tank, but I never seen the passenger door open. As I surveyed the situation a little longer I realized she was the driver. I talked to her a little bit. She said driving the truck was way better than being stuck in a tractor cutting or baling.
