2:30 AM...70 years ago..I showed up in the front seat of a Model T Ford, in front of the house near Belgrade, MN. Always a bit impetuous, couldn"t make it to the "hospital" a mile and a half away. Heard it wasn"t as cold as it is now in Central MN.

Life has been a ride... done a lot of stuff others wouldn"t. Dad was disabled when I was in HS, stayed home for 3 years. Was an Army Green Beret, paratrooper in the mid 60s, worked my way thru college and finished in less than 4 years.

We started farming from scratch with all borrowed money. Still here, 41 years later. (Much) better half of over 43 years and I are blessed with 6 successful kids, two Veterans, one still serving, just re-upped for three years. 12 Grandkids, twins due in March.

Growing up in this Country....the best in the history of Mankind...despite it"s foibles. And so many wonderful people in the community that I was raised n, then this one that has been our home for 41 years, plus the internet community of tractor friends. (On both sides of the ponds and borders! Yes, it"s been a good ride! Just checked the clock- it"s 2:27.... got 3 minutes to head down the slide! Time to get birthed!!!

Congratulations from Our side of the big Pond.....You have seen a lot of changes! Hope you see many more and that they are all for the good!

Happy 70th! I"m a 1942 guy so it"s good to have another "70 genarian" along, and I couldn"t agree more with you that life has been good!!!

Happy Birthday Jim! I hope you have a great day trying to stay warm on our very cold MN day.

Happy Birthday!!!

You have done well for yourself. That sounds like one great family and that is what you will leave behind to mark your time here.

A little over a year ago a life long local farmer passed away aged 93 or so. His younger brother spoke at the funeral. The deceased did not want to be eulogized, so the brother spoke in general about their collective youth, and upbringing. It was a good sized family, when the young mother died. With the help of the community, they survived, grew, and thrived. He repeatedly mentioned gratefulness, thankfulness, for family, community, and country. It was one of the best speeches I've heard. Your positive attitude reminded me of this.
We have so much to be thankful for. Especially for those who willingly offer all they have to protect the rest of us. Even to the point of leaving the security of this land.
We expect you to be part of this community for many more years.

I was with the 82nd Airborne from 1953 until 1955.
Our daughter was born in 1954 at the Ft Bragg hospital. Hal
