Here in central il vermilion county area idot site says all primary roads are closed due to drifting visibility etc. 7 above now going for -17 tonight. Burning lots of wood. Driveway 600 foot long was out before dark nothing resembling a driveway or road at the end. You know I've seen it worse several times but younger and more anxious to get out in it. Everyone stay safe and warm

Here in NWIA it's -13 with the wind howling but no snow. I'd like to see a little snow to protect the pipes but it hasn't happened to much extent yet. Jim

Here in NW Indiana we got 12" of new snow and about an hour ago the wind came up and you can't see anything. Three counties are are under a state of emergency and temps are going to take a nose dive.

Mark:

Here in North-East Iowa the snow thawed yesterday and refroze last night. So there is a crust on the snow so it is not drifting. The new snow stayed well south of us here.

The winds are 20-30 MPH out of the north and the temperature is -8 right now. Wind chills are -34 right now. The actual temperature is going to -24 with wind chills of -50 in the early morning.

JD Seller, we were up in your area today (Clarke College) for volleyball.

Cold windy ride home tonight.

west central ohio, rain all day around 40 degrees,
now 27 light snow and windy.

We got us some snow too in northern Indiana. You know? There are folks that post here that swear by putting chains on their tractors. They would be the smart ones. God didn't put me at the front of the smart line. In the next life, if there is one, I sure hope God fixes that. 12" of new snow and 22 degrees right now, supposed to be neg 10 by morning. Hey...'tis the season, and my furnace works, and that's really a pretty good start.

Good luck, be safe.

Mark

Mark-IN what part of northern Indiana do live. I live in the north central part of LaPorte county.

Mark the chains usually go on my tractors in late fall and stay until March most years. None of my barn yards are in anyway flat. So a 1/4 of snow on some sleet and your stuck without chains. I even have a set on the front of the JD 4450 MFWD just to pull manure spreaders on the frozen ground and snow.

Good gravey I can remember when I was about 12 years old and it had been an all nighter of frozen rain. I would guess abut 3/8 thick. It took my dad ALL day to load and spread a load of cow sh---t because he kept sliding around with NO traction. Buckets of sand were the only thing we had. What a mess. Jeffcat

It's 1:30 AM and -9 in west central IL. The wind is NW @ 19mph, but at least the stars are out and there is no new snow. We're forecast to hit -14 around 7 AM. With the drifting it's hard to tell how much snow we had, but it looks like it was around 6", with 3' drifts. The only road I know about is the county blacktop in front of our house----there's no traffic, and the county plows never went by today, at all. Western IL Univ is shut down Monday due to the weather.

We've had worse winters, but it's been a long time, late 70's early 80's.

E central Mn, half way betwixt MSP & Duluth
time 0145
actual temp -22°
wind 1 mph
wind chill -22° was -45° at 2245 Sun nite

last plowable snow was 2 1/2 in on Christmas Eve.

Stay warm

Willie
