O.K. my Texas friends how many of you go to the Canton first Monday. Been around the world a couple of times in my days but never have I seen anything like it. I see why they call it the US largest. Spent Friday & Sat and still did not see it all. Bought a bunch of junk and some good treasures. Five hundred and eighty miles door to doo but I will be going back.

Quite a deal. Biggest thing for me is getting to and from and parking in between. Years ago family was going to Lake Palestine to the East of Canton. Stopped by a hardware store there and bought a 30" or thereabouts, been awhile, cast iron skillet to fry the Crappie from Palestine. Great skillet, still have it 40 years later and had a blast at the lake.

(quoted from post at 18:31:17 01/05/14) O.K. my Texas friends how many of you go to the Canton first Monday. Been around the world a couple of times in my days but never have I seen anything like it. 7 miles for me. Bought a few items, looked at a bunch!

I live about 25 miles west of Canton, you can kill a day (and a pair of shoes) over there easy. Be sure to see the 3 other areas open those weekends as well. East Texas tractor swap meet and show are coming up on the 11th and 12th of April at Canton also. This show and swap is hosted by seven antique tractor clubs in Texas and Oklahoma

Back in the 90"s, I use to set up there as a vendor. I live only about 35 miles from there, so it was an easy trip. I have tried to cover the grounds in a weekend, but not enough energy. There is just too many acres of ground, if you do all three areas. There is not as many goodies there now as there use to be, but have found several things that I can use in the tractor restoration.
If you need it, its there, somewhere.
Enjoy

I have been to Canton lots of times. You can not see it all in one day. I always enjoy it. You can find just about any thing you need there. I live about 100 miles East of Canton. I setup as A vendor there two times. I think everyone would enjoy it.

I had to go to the Nursing Home in Canton one time. Just my luck it was on Trade Day. Half hour from the Highway to the home.Should have been about five minutes. It does get crowded.

Been there once, it's 100 miles one way. It was on a Saturday around Thanksgiving, couple years ago, the Christmas shopping was in full swing, the place was beyond packed with people, parking was a real hassle.

I think the secret is to get there Friday, appeared to be pretty much picked clean in the flea market areas.

It is huge though, got turned around and couldn't find where I parked! LOL Walked many miles that day!

Heard they had a bad fire there this summer, up in the "Old Town" area where they have the replica old west buildings, all adjoining walls... Could have been much worse, they got it out without loosing all of them.
