Running Power Steering off hydraulics

You have to use a flow divider. Set it so the PS has enough flow for all its needs and any extra goes to the tractor's lift or etc.

Example: Your steering system needs 2 GPM. Your pump puts out 8 GPM at full speed but at idle only 4 GPM. So you set the flow valve at 2 GPM. So even at an idle your steering will work. Then the lift or what ever gets what is left. In the example there would be 2 GPM left at idle and 6 GPM at full speed.

David the other two both have you a correct answer but having tried each the Priority flow valve gives slightly better results. Have converted several 44/55s . Little pump mounted up on front of timing cover can be replace with a larger pump if you want.

Yip, took J D Sellers advice last year and installed a priority valve on the 434. Works an absolute treat, steers perfectly and doesn't seem to have slowed the loader any. Very happy.
