I have tried to loosen the wheel hub bolts on my M tractor and they a frozen....do I heat them with a torch? I am getting no where....do you have an old farmer trick?

How long of a wrench are you useing?Take a 3/4 drive
and 4' pipe. The bolt will come loose.Put a box end
wrench inside as a 'backup'.Dont jack it up till all
the bolts are loose.I would only use torch as last
resort.

Like Delta said, get a big enough cheater and
something will give. Might soak them first with
penetrating oil (WD 40 is not penetrating oil!)Be
sure to use a quality 6 point socket, preferably
impact rated.

If one rounds off, you'll have to split the nut.
Use whatever means is easiest, grind or drill to
weaken it, then split it with a chisel.

Good luck!

I use an impact wrench. Three quater drive and lots of air. Don't have one borrow or rent one from local farm repair sevice. remember you need lots of air pressure but not a lot of volume.

Give the bolt a good hard rap with a mall. Be sure to hit it square. Don want to deform the bolt. If that doesn't work go the cheater bar route.

If you have the torch, use it. If you don't have a torch, now is the time to invest in one. I've been down the same road. Tried everything the other guys suggested, and the torch is the only thing that worked.

heat with a torch then quench with a penetrant like pb blaster or kroil.

do a few cycles of that and let it cool. as it cools it will cap-action the oil in.

i've also used candle wax on a hot bolt as it will wick in then act as lube.

hitting with a maul as someone else said can help.. just don't deform the head.

lastly. when you do go at it.. go with a beefy impact wrench.. the hammering action is better at busting hte rusty bolt loose.. vs a hard straight pull with a breaker bar and cheater pipe.. which many times will just twist the head off.
