Just found what I beleve is an F30. Have a friend in Texas going to check it out. Were the F30's longer than teh F20's?

Cannot help you on the precise model of tractor.
Seems to have a kerosene/distillate manifold.
Good luck.

I can't tell the model by seeing your picture. But the serial #'s for the F-30 are 1931-FB501 and the last number in 1939 was FB30026. And the serial numbers for the F-20 didn't have any letters before the number. The F-30 was quite a bit larger than the F-20. The F-30 weighed 5300 pounds and the F-20 only weighed 4400 pounds. The front tires were the same size but the rear tires on the F-30 was 42 inch and the F-20 was only 40inch. Hope this helps.

Hello,
Here in south central Iowa there were a lot of
F 20 Tractors. Not near as many F 30's.
Most of the F 20's had either 36" rear wheels
or 28". I am not aware of any with 40" wheels
around here. My family has had several F 20's.

Hope this helps, Lowell Wicks.

I am looking at the front bolster casting! It looks straight on the front belive that is F-30.
As an F-20 has rounded edge on front cast. Other than that I would need a better picture. oldiron29

Looks like the front wheels stick forward past the bolster. Is the spindle turned 180 degrees making it look like that? Seen a styled B John Deere like that once. The owner had it apart and didn't realize it could be put back together 180 out.

IIRC, several things different to tell an F-30 from an F-20.
Rear hubs- flat face on 20, shaft & large nut on 30.
PTO/belt pulley shifter- on 20 it comes out of low spot on left side of trans, comes up outside of left frame rail near clutch pedal. on 30 it comes out top of trans, right side near gear shifter.
30 is 2 feet longer overall than 20.

F-20 serial numbers started with FA, although there were some with a TA prefix I believe it was, that were made using leftover Regular parts.

the F-30 has 2 bolts per side where the clutch housing bolts to the frame, F-20 just 1 bolt per side. F-30 has a water pump with a V-belt, F-20 uses a flat belt no water pump , late ones used a V belt, but no water pump.

Most definitely a 30, as robgIN stated two bolts per side on the bell housing, and another good way is a quick look at the belt pulley housing mount on the tranny is a surefire way to tell, 4 studs on a 20- 6 studs on a 30
