I know someone on here can help me out. About two months ago I did a transmission fluid and filter change. 100-200 miles later, today I go out to the garage and the transmission won't engage. The column shift lever will go through each gear, but the truck will not move. Fluid level looked good a few weeks ago when i checked it. Is it possible that the filter fell down into the pan? Is there anything else it could be?

Thanks in advance,
Joshua

Check your fluid level with the engine off. It should show way overfull, note the level. Start the engine and recheck. If it's still at the same level, either the filter fell off or the front pump is not picking up fluid.

Can you "feel" the shifter hit each gear or does it move loose? I replace alot of shift tubes in those trucks. They are made from a cheap pot metal and break inside the column. It is possible the filter fell off inside the pan too, just another thought...

Hi Between my 99 f250 super duty and selling it to buy a Dodge, i"d rather buy a pair of shoes save some money, and walk L.O.L. it can work both ways. some Dodges aren"t that great either. Couple of my buddies have had enough problems, to know i Don"t want one.
