I am looking at possibly buying this white 2-180 but would like to find out if the transmission shifts up and down ok when driving on the road.
Were the trans. good on that model?

We bought a new 2-180 in 1979 I believe it was. Ran it for close to 8000 hours. The only trouble we had was the rearend went out and had to be repaired. Otherwise it was a great tractor. Still have a 2-135 that is running strong at 6500 hours. The over/under is as good as it is taken care of. I think the whites were a good tractor, mainly depending how they were treated.

i've owned a couple 55 series olivers and operated a couple whites. have never read a bad review about them, they all seem to mention something like "bulletproof".

Well there is no shifting the manual shifter while moving without a lot of grinding but the hydral low-direct-over worked fine. You just need to make sure it has not be abused.

The important thing is have the filters been changed as they should have been. You might drain a little oil and check for what show up in it.
