Just bought a 801 Ford Select O Matic 1960 I think... need some help identifing things. i.e. where pray tell is the light switch for starters....

For the light switch, when sitting in the seat, reach out with Your right hand, feel under the sheet metal next to the dash.
It's either a push button or a twist knob. You just can't see it!

Joe

Very hard to say for sure since many of those switches get swapped out over the years and some even get removed and never put back on so you can have lights on it but the switch ad wires are gone or a mess

Repeat after me:
It's a Ford
Select O Speed
Select O Speed
Select O Speed
See how easy that is?
I think Case built a CaseOMatic.
But Fords and Cases are like Kings and Aces - similar but NOT AT ALL alike.

I believe I would look for a mechanic rather than a light switch. We had a SOS on our loader tractor. I can't tell you how many new names it was called daily. I have no clue how the dealer took it on trade in, but no one cared.

Some folks really like them. Maybe someone has gone through yours and made it work like they should. Seriously, though, you should make yourself familiar with the details of that trans.

be careful with the tranny, wifes uncle had a farm scrap yard in the 50's to the 1990's. He switched a lot of them to 5 speed manuals, scrapped a lot more because they were too expensive to fix.

Many of us "Ford people" recognize how much better the second generation SOS is than the original. The original had a lot of problems, but many of the originals were swapped out for the second gen which came out around 1963, and thousands of those are well appreciated and still earning their keep everyday.

Right side of the dash, about where the key is on the left side.
If the other questions don't have to do with the transmission or
the PTO, you might want to leave the Select-O-Speed out of the
question. ;)
The 801 series are fine machines, some folks just don't like the SOS.
You also may get more specialized answers on the Ford forum of
this site which is here: YT Fords
If the other questions DO involve the trans or the PTO, by all
means ask on the Ford forum. Quite a few SOS experts there.
