OT Not a Good Way To Start The New Year

About 10° this morning, snow and windy. Phone rings about 9AM. The newspaper lady called me and said she slid into my mailbox on the ice. She left her number and I went out to check out the damage. She bent the newspaper box & post over, wiped out my plastic mailbox post and bent the angle iron it fastens to up pretty good. I straightened the paper box up enough to use. Took a pipe wrench and sledge hammer and got the angle iron straight enough to put a new post over it. Off to Menard's for a new post. They didn't have the same kind I had, so ended up buying a new post and box. Came home, dressed up warm and headed out to the shed and put the new pole and mailbox together and set over the angle iron sticking out of the ground. Kind of a loose fit for the post, went and found a cement block and set it over the angle iron and then put post over the angle iron and inside the block and stuck a couple of pieces of wood between post and block the tighten it up. It should work until warm weather and then I can set it up right. I'm not supersticious, but I hope the whole year doesn't go like today started out. Chris

So far so good. Ended the year better than the rest of it went. I had to grind feed yesterday. It was about the easiest time I've had since I started grinding new wet corn two months ago.

Started the new year right with an old german tradition, pork and sauerkraut for good luck. I cleaned the chimney before all this snow started, hope my luck holds.
