Vibration in 2005 5.3 GM

I will keep this tractor related. Last weekend I was delivering some small tractor parts to a guy, it was about an hour drive so I was gone awhile. On the way down, I noticed when the RPMS got up above 2000 it felt like a fast vibration in the engine. So to rule out any driveline issues, I put it in park and sped up the engine. It really got bad then. I have done a little digging online, keep coming up with harmonic balancer failure. Has anyone experienced this problem? If so id like to hear how it turned out. Thanks.

I work on GM for a living for past 15 years. I have NEVER seen a 4.8-5.3-6.0 balancer fail, they really can.t.
Torque converter bolts bout the only think I could think of, but that would be rare and would be short lived without major oil leak or failure. the engine isn t miss firing?? Check engine light on and flashing? Flashing SES light means misfire that can damaged that cat converters. We see a lot of camshaft failures and or lifter rollers pitting and going flat but don"t vibrate. Cams squeak and make noise and then misfire.

No engine light and no misfire. The engine runs great . Good oil press and good trans action. I don't know what to think at this point.

huh. You got me. If I remember correctly, the 5.3 is internally balanced. When I remove the balancer, there is no key way and we throw them back on any old way. Maybe the rubber sliped on the dampener but is shouldn't throw balance off of dampener as they are balanced on the inner part of the dampener.
Usually a 2000rpm engine balance issue reveals itself on the garage floor.

Same with trans issues. I do see a lot of oil pump stator bushing issues with the 4L60E in 2005 model year. (I play with transmissions at the GM dealer) Never has a vibration issue but could? The bushing in the oil pump cover (body) fails on the input housing (contains overrun, forward, and 3-4 clutches)turbine shaft and caused the Teflon sealing rings to fail. Then converter fills with metal and clutches fail due loss of line pressure directed to that clutch. But if trans a ok, you got me. post when you find out. I d like to know.

where you located? I am changing a motor in a 2006 with a 4.8 at work right now. Motors come with the dampener on them. Gm wouldn't miss a core without one. Dumb they come with them installed because we have to removed them to install engine to clear the radiator (can do it without removing but is tight and can ding the radiator fins) new dampener probably 200 bucks

On front wheel drive cars I check the engine mounts and top torque strap when there is a vibration. They are cheap fixes if that is the problem. At nine years old they could be getting loose.
