Any Memorable New Years Eves..........

Do any of ya'll have any New Years Eve parties or events that stand out in your memory?

I have two. When I was deployed to a Nationalist Chinese Air Force base on Taiwan, the officers and Staff NCO's of our unit were invited to a New Years Eve party at the Nationalist Chinese Air Force Officer's Club in Ping Tung. The Chinese celebrate New Years with fireworks, and during the course of the party there were so many fireworks going off inside the club they had to stop the dance several times to sweep the debris from the fireworks off the dance floor.

At one point, I left the club to load up on more fireworks, and from a block down the street it sounded like a full scale firefight was going on in the club.

Then, another New Years Eve party at the Fleet Reserve Club in Millington, TN finally broke up for good at 4pm the next day. People went home, slept it off, came back and started partying all over again. Now that was a party!

I remember in 1994 New Year's Eve we had an ice storm at the time I was a wing man for the town plow trucks, they called me to come down and sand the roads, I drove a mile to the top of the hill then decided not to go down the hill and i ended up having to walk 2 miles to the town garage because the roads were ice covered. On my way down I ran into a neighbor walking up the hill, on his way to work he slid his truck into the ditch and had to walk back home In cowboy boots. After that I quit being a wing man.

When I was in high school, I met a California girl at my buddy's New Years party. They were related somehow. Platinum blonde, good looking, shapely, etc. Every guy in the place was hitting on her. I just sat in my corner and sipped beer. Finally worked up the courage to talk to her. We ended up going on a date and wrote for several months. Went to surprise her when we went to California to see my uncle. Took a bus from Northern Ca. to Fontana where she lived. I had no idea if they'd even be home. I got surprised. She had a job and boyfriend. But they put me up for the weekend and her mom took her brother and I to Newport Beach. Spent the whole day there. Got caught in a rip current and got burned. Wonder what ever happened to her?

Netted 3.4 million,& got the cashout, on a BIG land deal just before new year eve in 2008.
Started a party that afternoon, the best I can remember it is still going on.
Tried to find my house and wife a couple of times. over the years, but had no luck. May look some in 2014 ???
