OT Almost there

Here I was at Flying J on I 75 just 2 miles north of Florida. Parked for free (but bought $100 in fuel) then inside to Dennys for a $2 breakfast the next morning wooooooooo hooooooooooo. Once in Avon Park Florida all is unhooked so we have car or golf cart to run around in all winter at Antique Tractor Shows or Bluegrass festivals or camps etc.

BEFORE anyone has a calf:

YES Billy Bob, the car is equipped with its own auxiliary braking feature while in tow, when RV brakes it does also;

NOTE Billy Bob, this is the third time I have double towed and been passed and looked at and followed by State, City and County police several times with never a word said.

NOTE Billy Bob, Next year I'm returning to what I did last year, towed a pickup with golf cart in truck bed, not near as longggggggggg.

As many times as I've seen that kind of rig I've never seen one crashed, or in any kind of accident for that matter. They still always make me cringe tho. That is just dumb and dangerous as far as I'm concerned.

Looks good to me, now if the golf cart was in front pulling you could save a lot of gas. I once saw an Astro Van pulling a 30' camper with a 20' boat on a tandom trailer, now I gave him room.

luky you , john t,,,..wisht I was in warm weather now,, you are gonna miss some miserable climate , while playin down there,,. my cousine left ind for good in 1974 ended up in texas ..he jokes that he fastened a snow shovel to impala ,, when he found someone that wanted to know what that thing was ,, he KNEW HE WAS FAR ENUF SOUTH

I'm wondering what you do about the car's drivetrain, to avoid damage to it, as well as how do you lock up the steering, or is that even necessary? Is that a diesel up front and if so, which? Enjoy the sun and warmth. Happy New Year!

There was a thread about this back maybe fifteen months ago. Someone posted a link to a site which told what states this combination is legal in. I remember that it was maybe 2/3 of the states.

I left my house here in Lakeland one night with a 38 ft motorhome with two 14ft airboats behind it. Stop in Lake Wales for something to eat. Came out and there is two city cops staring at the rig. One of them said the he knew it wasn't legal he just didn't know what law we were breaking. Told us to get out of town and not to come back that way again. Did I forget to mention we had a 4 wheeler straped to the deck of each airboat! I would never try it again but it worked that time. Have a safe trip and see you at the show in a couple of weeks

John what RR is that train from????????????
Happy new year and glad you had a safe trip down.

Did you have much traffic on I-75? We just got back from lower Georgia and the idiots on the Interstate convinced me to take other highways on the way home. Everything is running at 80+ and next second, everyone is on the brakes hard. From there, it was a crawl for the next 72 miles before we found a smaller highway that went the way we wanted. Snowbirds and tourists!!

You got to be kidding!! You could not pay me enough to head out on the road with that rig!! But that's just me, hope your having a great time!! I have driven Semi in New York city and La, but now when I head out for fun I jump in my Malibu so I can buss around anywhere. Have a great 2014!!

Just like some one that has all them toys and crys because they have to pay fur a parking space.

When I drove truck the first vehicles in the ditch when a little cross wind blew, was such an outfit. And they would be standing beside it scratching their head wondering vhat happened?

A professionel truck driver has to pass all sorts of regulations and some one else can put all kinds of stuff on the road without any qualifications.
Hope you have a safe trip.

That conglomeration reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw on a beater...."Don"t laugh mister, you"re daughter might be in here".

I always thought you couldn't have the second trailer unless the first one was a fifth wheel or gooseneck. Someone told me that was the way it was in Minnesota any way.

ohn, you're making me jealous showing by us a pic of you in the warm country while we're surrounded by snow. We aren't going south for a couple of months yet and then it'll only be for a week or 10 days. Jim

Maybe next year you can put your JD B on a trailer behind the pickup with the golf cart IN IT? Have a great winter down south.

JohnT,
You mean you don't have a garage in the back of motor home so you could park your golf cart in it?
George

I feel better now. When I first glanced at it I was horrified. I thought you pulled that car and the RV backwards with a golf cart all the way to Florida!

Those pesky FMCSR don't appy to RV's.
They got all worried a guy might put a bomb in a truck and take it somewhere to blow up a national park or something. That would be foolish, when an RV or a bus can haul all that would be needed and not be noticed on the way there.
