Coulda had a free $250.00 oil change, all I had to
do was keep my mouth shut. Went to get the oil
changed on my truck tonight and when done they
said thanks see ya later. I said don't you want to
get paid? They said it's already paid. I told them
that I had to pay it, they said that Crete
Carriers had paid it. Turns out that Cret has a
truck with the same truck number, same last 3
numbers on the VIN. and the drivers name is John.
So the had Crete pay the bill. Shoulda kept my
trap shut. lol I just couldn't do it.
 
I am sure glad that you just couldn't do it. No
diff than stealing if you know you can get by.
Also we have a FATHER up above who knows all we
do,hears what we say, and knows what we are think
-ing. So I am glad for that last sentence. Thanks

glad you went and paid the bill too, if you had taken off instead, with 2 trucks that close and drivers named john, how long would it have taken them to track ya down? then you will really be paying

All I can say is karma is a real bit** and you did the right buy paying it. Sometimes the thought does cross a guys mind though.
 
Crete never would have figured it out, unless they audited "their" Jon's logbooks. Even then I doubt they would have pursued it, and figured someone at Freightliner took down a VIN wrong.
 
I don't understand why people feel powerful when they rip someone off. It might keep money in their pocket, but it erodes who they are, to steal from someone.

I like a good deal as much as anyone, but why take advantage of a person who is at a disadvantage?

Karma works both ways. If you would have taken the free oil change you would have "paid" for it sooner or later.

Since you did the right thing, you will be rewarded in the long run. You're a good man.

Very long story, got an oil change last month on the pickup, was $30, had a coupon for $25, they had the mother of all billing mixups.

A few minutes before closing (i was there over (2 hours like i said a long story others were having lots of problems) the gal trying to straighten up everything said the deal is closed on the computer, we are not openning this account up again, the computer wants $17 to be happy, I'm happy if the computer is happy, hope you are happy with that too.

So, I got the oil change for $17.

It might erode a lot of people, but there are some that there's nothing left to erode.
Like the guy near here who found a fuel card on the pump at the co-op a couple years ago.
Filled up and took the card, used it for quite some time, ran up tens of thousands of fuel charges on it.
Long story short, card account owner finally put a game camera in an old beater truck with a "For sale" sign, where it could take pictures of the pumps to prove to the co-op it was stolen and catch the thief. And the thief thinks it's funny, laughs because it took so long to get caught.
