Another little something for my Allis Chalmers collection.

I am not a serious Allis Chalmers collector by any means, but I do like little odds and ends and conversation pieces (especially WC/WD era type stuff). Relative got me this for Christmas, said they believed that AC parts used to come in bags like these? I think it's pretty neat.

It is neat, I have no idea if they're right about the parts though.
You might ask Dale Haymaker, he has a great collection of AC's
and his own mock dealership partially stocked with parts.
Here's his website: AC Museum

Some history on Allis Chalmers La Crosse:

In October 1, 1929, the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company, based in Milwaukee, purchased the failing La Crosse Plow Company for $275,000. Allis-Chalmers then had a plow line that could compete with other farm machinery manufacturers.

The La Crosse Works, as it was known from then on, went on to build a complete line of planters, listers, disc harrows, cultivators and other tillage tools under the Allis-Chalmers name. The factory was expanded and updated a number of times under Allis-Chalmers. By the late 1960s, Allis-Chalmers was consolidating operations, and the La Crosse Works was shut down. The manufacturing of tillage equipment was moved to other Allis-Chalmers branches.

Yep, they were used for various small parts, like the bolts that
would come with an assembly, or a short drive chain and
masterlink, for example. Many other parts small enough to fit in
them, too. Sometimes there would be an attached part # card, on
the newer stock, old ones would have a wire tag, with hand written
part #.

Wonderful piece! I have never seen a bag like such. Most of the Lacrosse pieces I have seen either had tags or painted on part numbers.

I do not live too far from Lacrosse and have been trying to acquire pieces from there. I recently bought an office desk from the drafting area.
