White Tractors

I am looking at a 2-62 White Tractor for possible purchase. Does anyone have any feedback on the quality of these machines? I understand these are not in production any longer; is it difficult to get parts? Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks.

Never owned one and do not know anything but I make a lot of auctions in these parts and their resale is nothing, the jockeys will hardly bid on them. Suppose it depends on where you are and what you want to do with it.

It's a rebadged Iseki T6500 from Japan. Not a bad tractor, there are a couple around here that run and run and run. The controls can take a little getting used to. Not sure about parts availability.

I forgot about the Oliver/White Industrial 2-62. There is confusion because the late 70s-early 80s White/Iseki 2-62 Field Boss utility tractor is not the same as the early 70s Industrial model. So we need to know which one it is. Does it have a 6 cylinder Waukesha engine in it (Oliver industrial model) or an Isuzu 4 cylinder (Iseki rebadge)?

There are TWO White 2-62 tractors. One is a industrial model and is a Oliver based machine. The other is the Japanese one. So it depends on which one you are looking at.

The Japanese model is a cheap running tractor. The controls are KIND of USA standard but not completely. So they will take some getting used to. The biggest disadvantage is PARTS. AGCO has discontinued many of them. You maybe about to get them form some of the import tractor part places but not mainline for everything. The resale value is not very high. A FWD will be in the $4500 class and the MFWD will bring around $6500 if clean.

The Oliver based one will be easier to get parts for. They usually have a industrial loader or backhoe on them.

I bought one with a four wheel drive at an auction a couple of years ago that had to be pulled onto my trailer because the front wheels skid. Took it my repair shop and they took the cover off the front drive and found that a bolt had come loose and bound the front gears. Cheap fix but while there we looked to see if parts were available for the tractor. We discovered that they had to be ordered through Agcco and would have to come from Japan at a very high cost, both for the parts and shipping.
Now you know why machinery jockies aren't very interested.

My advice [worth about what you pay me for it] is stay away from them. Buy a Ford, John deere, Oliver or any popular tractor with a good reputation.

By the way I would not sell the white here at my yard because I was afraid some local guy would buy it and then have problems and find the parts would be hard to get. I sold it to another dealer who took it across the border.

Hi
Just picked up your parts comment on the prices. It don't matter what brand tractor you have with front wheel assist. they are all asking stupid money for parts, Done a Case IH, Massey, some on a John Deere, and just priced a Landini hub, the cheapest was the Case with used parts at $3000 plus shop time and the landini quote was $5000 for just for one hub, $12 of gear oil and 10 mins of a farmers time checking or toping it up looks cheap now for that guy. The massey was around $4500 one hub also .
We had to wiat for new parts for all the ones I did as well nothing was in stock. one Massey part took 6 weeks in the end.
So main line stuff can be no better than the odd ball stuff sometimes.
Regards Robert

A buddies farm has a 2-65 white iseki. They bought it new. We figure it has around 15000 hours. Motor has never been apart and it will start first crank on the coldest winter day.

It is an White/Iseki, has a loader, listed as 65 horsepower tractor. But if parts are hard to get and expensive then I would mostly likely pass on it and get Ford, JD, Kubota, Case, those are plentiful around NE Alabama and parts are available. Tractor is priced at a good price but now based on the feedback I understand why. Thank you guys for the feedback and advice.
