Titan 9.5-24 picture

Someone was asking the other day for opinions on Titans. Here is one of my fronts. I put these on very late in 2003 or early 2004.

Both fronts have these tears like the lug is delaminating from the tire carcass. As you can see plenty of tread left. I have heavy clay with a few rocks that occasionally put small cuts in the tires. But to me this is clearly a tire construction problem.

This is the main reason I am going to 12.5/80-18s.

That is the extension cord going to the block heater. It starts soooooo easy when I use it. About a half revolution and it lights off.

Thats not fair? Like to see the rest of the tractor! Lol, you've peeked my intrest. Or you can tell us what tractor it is. By the way my firestones f&r look k the same way.

Of course this is just a guess. But I'm thinking it's more like too much load/torque for the tire. We used to have tractors here with Armstrong/Titans on the rear. They were a soft tire, grabbed well, wore quickly, and you didn't want to run them soft. We never had one go bad.

I've got a set of rears that are about 10 years old also. Doing the same darned thing.

They don't make 'em like they used to.

Sorry. Ford/NH3930. Haven't had a lick of problems with it. Did a few minors repairs after I bought it due to the previous owners laziness.

I bought new Titans (rears) for two tractors in 1993 and 1996. I've had absolutely NO problems with any of them. They also bite great and are wearing well.

I've also have some post Bridgestone Firestones that are less than half the age of the Titans. These are wearing extreemly rapidly due to the removal of much rubber from the tread (lugs and ribs are very thin). I will not buy Firestones again.

if you change them out in that good of shape
they are perfect for a Farmall Cub
clean the cracks good and fill with shoe goo.
Think maybe Economy tractors use that same size

If those tires are 10 years old... that's pensionable in Titan years. A cheap set of Galaxy's are as good as anything in that application.

I'm running Titans, 16.9 x 28 6 ply lugs on rears, don't know the size on front but 10 ply lugs and wide for the diameter on my '07 tractor. Holding up well, pull well and only signs of age are small webb like cracks around the base of the lugs on the front. Working ok for me.
