Kinda OT Light bar for spraying

I'm thinking about getting some kind of guidance system for spraying. I hired a young fella to spray for me this year and not real happy with the way things turned out, SO, I need to be able to spray burndown on covercrop rye and narrow row beans. I don't need all the extra fancy stuff, just a light bar or something to spray by. Can you use these systems on a older gas tractor? I could always use the 1850 diesel that I plant with to spray. I tried a foam marker a few years ago and was not happy with it. I've seen some light bars in the $750 range, how good are they and are they old fart proof?

I just bought an Outback S-Lite. Exactly what you"re talking about. GPS control, no annual fee. Can measure acres, can be set up to shut down planter/sprayer sections with proper additions. $750 at dealer, a bit under on internet. In tillage you can do skip swaths, so turning is easier. Needs 12v power, antenna mag mounts to your tractor hood or cab roof. Dealer employee sprays at nite with his! Can hook to your computer for downloading info.

I traded my J.D. light bar in for a better guidance system at our local J.D. dealer. Last I knew they were getting around $350 for perfectly good used ones. So you might want to check your local dealer and see if they would have some thing available.

Are your fields so darned wide, that you can't see a white rag tied to a fence post? Maybe you need field glasses. 3 0f my kids went togeather, and put a new trolling motor on my bass boat 2 yr's ago. It's supposed to follow GPS, and do all sorts of good things, even drive the boat on a return trip. It looks kind of nice sticking off the bow, and really impresses the bass crowd. I have never used it, cause I ain't got the time to fight with learning it, when all I go out for, is to fish, and relax. What is wrong with the way we always done it?

We have two light bars my son got on craigs list for 300 to 350. One is a outback. Don't remember the name of the other one right now, but it is made up of at least 3 different brands. It is the one I spray with. We just have a 40 ft boom and a 300 gal pull type sprayer, with a pto pump. I wouldn't want to be without it. Counts acres and tells you how fast you are going. Only problem is to hard for me to keep up at 8 or 10 mph. At 6 mph I can do a good job. without duals rough ground throws the tractor side to side more than it can figure out at 10 mph. It will cause you to chase it. Probably new ones are better. This one is at least 10 yrs old. I use it on a 6060 AC with a cab. I also use foam. I need it on the ends, and our gps quits next to trees on the south and west sides. I run our foamer with LP gas, and a 30 lb. regulator.

Ralph, What's a fence post? No livestock, no need for fence on 3 sides of farm. My field is only 1/4 mile wide, But the hill in the middle is about 40' high. Call me lazy, but I'm not going to stop on each end and in the middle to set a stake each pass so I have something to drive towards. Chris
