OT - A pic for the brand wars

It's been a fun rivalry for a very long time.
Pictures like this just help to egg it on. ;)
The Chevy is my sister's, seems to be either a fuel pump or a
plugged fuel filter. I'll find out once it thaws out and I can look
at it. But for today, it's off the road and in my shop warming.
Stay warm out there no matter what you drive! :)

The part of the picture with the Dodge chained to
the front of the Ford is missing! Just kidding,
Merry Christmas

Some time back, when I was a volunteer with the local fire department, our Chief was a dyed-in-the-wool, raving, frothing Ford man. Nothing else would do, all of our truck less one were Fords, and he was looking to replace THAT with another Ford.

One of them was a C series cabover pumper. 429 gas and a 750 GPM pump with a 750 gallon tank.

Some of the boys were out doing a little driver training and managed to get the ol' hoss a little too far over on the shoulder and into the soft stuff.

They did have sense enough to quit before they REALLY buried it (or rolled it) but they did NOT want to call a wrecker or have the Chief find out about it, so they called me. (I was Station Captain for Station One at the time)

I fired up my trusty old Chevy K3500 with the 454 and drove out to the scene of the crime. With a chain and in 4WD Low, I was able to ease them back up onto the road.

Being the sort of person that I am, I just HAD to have this picture taken, blown up, and discreetly placed on the Chief's desk.

Oddly, he wasn't nearly as amused by it as everyone else was...

LOL I had to sell my Dodge before I got myself in trouble Greg!

Merry Christmas to you too!

Only two kind of men in this country: Ford men and Chevy men!

Nice looking truck! One of my best friends had oMe
that looked just like that one. Had a 318 with big
tires and ran like a striped a$$ ape.

My neighors truck in the creek bordering my property.
Don't know what he was doing.

Sometimes, it works the other way!

I'm a Ford guy, but respect the other brands.....

BUT, those Avalanches are butt ugly!!!!! I get a little ill every time I see a Chevy Avalanche, Pontiac Asstek, or Honda Ridgeline. I can't think of a single recent production Ford as ugly as them...

Brand wars will go on till the end of time. Even motorcycles. Indian or Harley who's the best? If a Indian was towed to this Indian repair shop. The owner would say look, a Indian pushing a Harley with a stiff rope. Stan

Ray' that blue chev pickumup truck, looks like part of the left wheel well is rusted away.
The Chevs of that year vere prone to rust sitting in the garage

Brother just left my house 15 Mins ago same thing he wants a new welder it has to be Blue, my choice first is the better deal.

happened in our firedept rolled tanker over in front of bar and then we had the time the fire truck got stuck one the guys backed up his bronco yep it looked like a little pup on a big chain

Once when FORD introduced one of its newer pickup
body styles,Coworker(who NEVER swore) took one look
and the first words out of his mouth "ugly sum
b!+ch,aint it".We all stood there with our mouth
hanging open.......

Blew a front brake line on my Chevy plow truck one winter. Couldn't see where it was leaking and really didn't want to fix it out in the cold and snow anyways.

Hooked the tow strap up to my partners Ford and I towed him home so we could use his brakes to stop my truck.

Found it kind of amusing that it looked like the Ford was the broken one when in reality it was the other way around.

On a side note...my Chevy did tow its share of Fords that actually needed it.

Well, at least it takes your mind off the weather for a little while. As someone said, I respect other brands, they all have their problems from time to time, but you can't blame the brand itself, generally problems are caused by some wet behind the ears engineer out to make a name for himself. (and if he only knew some of the names he gets called)---Much of the time it goes back to what you grew up with, or what the family has always driven. I grew up in a "Ford family", married a girl whose family all drove Chrysler products and since then I have owned about as many of one as the other and wouldn't flip a coin for the difference. I did meet a man a few years ago that owned a nice Dodge pickup, early 80s model, but it didn't take me but a minute to tell that the poor guy wasn't wrapped too tight, when I found that he had removed the tried and true 318 and installed a 350 Chevy engine in it! Talk about an insult!

I've owned 15 Chevy trucks and 4 ford trucks over
the past 36 years, I've liked them all. The Fords
retained relative "automotive simplicity" until the
97 model year and were horses. The Chevys got pretty
"woossy" in the mid 87' year. The only way to get a
good one now is order the HD packages. The base
models are "yuppie toys". Never owned a Dodge, don't
care to.

Let us know if you find a fuel filter in that thing! I don't find one on my 2004 Chev. pickup. Filter catalogs don't list one. Over 100000 miles and no problem, so I haven't gotten into it any deeper.

I have a 2004 Chevy, its attached to the fuel pump inside the tank I believe. I sure never found one either.

Question. What option does Chevy and dodge have that you
can't get on a ford? Answer. A heated tailgate so your hands
don't get cold when you are pushing it home!

Many years ago when I met my wife her uncle worked for gm and I sure caught a lot of flak for driving a Ford. Seems Chevy was the only brand to drive. Her uncle no longer works for gm and now they drive Fords and Toyotas. I haven't called them out on it just ignore them.

They say 10 out of 12 Chevy pickups are still on the road. Good place for them, the Fords made it home to the shed.

(quoted from post at 17:34:30 12/14/13) Exactly. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen!

Glenn
he only thing I will brag up is something I made with my own hands. I'm not going to put a feather in someone else's cap.

Anyway, I've always had Chrysler and GM products, mostly because they fell in my lap, so to speak, but I've always wanted an old 1/2 ton Ford. Maybe someday, it'll happen if it falls in my lap. LOL. Jim

ONLY if it is given to me. Same goes for "gimmie" caps, hence the name. I laugh every time I see a brand nut providing free advertising for the brand. Course if that's his favorite, he wants it to "be there for him" and keeping sales up is one way for that to happen. Have to confess, I do it with tractors.

On this one (2002) it is inside the left frame rail near the rear of the drivers door.

I was a die-hard Ford truck guy until I owned an 04
F-350 with the 6.0 diesel. I had so many problems
with that truck, that I traded it off 2 years ago
for a Ram 3500 Mega Cab with the Cummins and a 6-
Speed manual Transmission, especially since Ford did
not offer a manual transmission anymore. I've been
pretty happy with this truck, aside from the mileage
that I have been getting. Pulls my 30' flatbed
gooseneck trailer like it's not there.
