rrlund....thot you would like this one

That"s kind of neat - but having trouble figuring what it would be used for. Tall row crops, but what?

I saw the other green tractor, model 40, similarly equipped at Expo 2001. It was used to cultivate nursery stock, and not factory original.

Too rich for my blood...but that would be so cool to have. I'd have to figure out some way to get that into my man cave.

They say you learn something new each day, and this is my lesson for today! Obviously a limited production version, as I have never even heard of them. But there must have been a niche for a high clearance crawler somewhere. That thing couldn't have looked any better fresh from he factory. Thanks for the post.

I have seen crawlers like that at Starks Nursery in Louisianna MO they have trees and shrubs planted in rows and use high crawlers to dig them for shipment. looks like the stuff they were harvesting was about 6 ft tall. yes i think the tracks are on backwards, i bought a D7 once in early 80 s came with tracks backwards hard to change when all i had was a sledge hammer and cutting torch.

Sprocket comes straight out of the re3ar axil. no need for additional drive train, same as "new" Cat design .
And, yep, they are pretty rare and pricy. That one is probably around 1950 or older.

Theres one at our local show that seems to be the mascot for the show now.

I bought a loader from some people in Rural Retreat Va. that had one unrestored. It had wooden blocks bolted to the tracks. I cant recall their names but I think they lurk around (like myself. lol) on this site because I found the loader in the photo ads here.

I put a picture in Tractor Photos of a JD 420 Hi-Crop (my term) Crawler. Interesting little tractor and (at that time) used regularly to dig up trees for transplanting.

I've been told that the conversion was probably done by a company northwest of Portland, Oregon.
