Notice running slow over summer. Now, won"t lift at all. Tractor has been parked on slight incline headed uphill, about 10% incline.

After running for about five minutes and trying unsuccessfully to raise blade. Shut off and checked hyd fluid level. It is considerably above the full make with hyd cylinder extended in the down position Fluid appears very clean and very thick.

If overfilled, would this cause system to not work at all?

Nope, probably need to overhaul the hydraulic pump.
You might get by just bleeding the air out of it. But, if it has air in the pump, it's probably because the seals are bad and the pump is sucking air.

Fill in the blanks please. How cold is it where your at?? You say thick oil which says you may have a seal bad between the transmission and or rear end which means the fluids mix and thick hyd oil does not work well if cold out.

Hi, Does it have the original vane pump or the
piston pump? I would first replace the inlet o
rings-at least in my day that is where the air
would enter. Inlet tubes on the vane or manifold
on the piston pump. When these need replacing the
pump will lose prime. Several posts lately have
described how to prime. Some put compressed air
in the dipstick hole and hold pressure till it
forces oil up into the pump. Chuck

My 700 had the same problem. I overhauled the pump and it did no good. Then I read where you have to replace the seal at the backend of the pump, behind the roller bearing. I didn't. I assume that is why it is still not working. The seal allows the oil to drain out of the pump back into the transmission. You know what they say. Live and learn.
