White 2 150

I was offered a White 2 150 a few days ago but dont know much about them. I think they have a MM 585 6 cylinder diesel but not sure how good an engine these are. The fact that it doesnt have 3 pnt probably means I wont want it. I just wondered what experiences you guys have had with them. I had heard they tend to leak oil into the rear end if left standing for a while which this one has. I think the guy is asking way too much for it, he certainly is for one in the UK as I guess no one even knows what they are over here. I dont think it will sell for much, he's asking $6500. What do you folks think of them?

Hard to get parts for that engine. Agco only and expensive for the most part. They were actually a Moline or Oliver G1355 with different sheet metal. More valuable as an Oliver or Moline for the collector value. Probably a $2500 tractor where I live. If it was a 2-155 with the 478 Hercules it would be a whole different story.

It"s a SWELL collector"s tractor. NOT so swell if you are going to work it or buy parts for it.

There are few guys down on Oliver forum that still use tractors w/ that engine for field work. Neighbor had one that pulled six botttom plow back in the day with no problem. It had the three point hitch. He said was difficult to start in cold weather. Could damage engine w/ ether if don't know what you are doing. Saw one pull some yrs ago in stock class tractor pull. It beat everything in it's weight class by long distance because that engine had what seemed like unstoppable torque. And those tractors were heavy right from the factory.

Good tractor, starts hard in cold weather. Pretty simple to work on, we"ve had all kinds of trouble with ours, but its been worked to death. If its in good running condition, id say $3500
