Where do you east coast guys get your seed? I have been with Dekalb since the beginning of time. Since Mon got them my order has slowlly decreased until today. Told the salesman No More. I started changing to Pioneer lately but now they are pulling the same crap, The seed I want has been discontinued! Syngenta cost me plenty with that Starlink so they are out. I would like to try Cropland if any thing is close. Open to all suggestions.

Have you looked at TA seeds? http://www.taseeds.com/products/

I've gotten FS branded seed from our local Growmark and been happy as well. http://www.fsseed.com/Pages/Home.aspx

I have not been happy with Hubner but that may be due to their jerk of a local dealer more than anything.

I'm in wny and have used croplands alfalfa the last couple of years. It's ok, nothing to write home about. I just bought theirs because my local feed mill sells it but I will probably shop around for this years. As far as thier corn seed, wow, way overpriced here. Dekalb and pioneer blew it out of the water price wise. I know they are not second rate but I refuse to pay more than name brand prices for them. Kinda like I wouldn't pay more than John deere price for a zetor tractor.

I simply couldn't tolerate Pioneer any longer. The yields were there but their product just got tired and laid down at every excuse.

We have been using Doeblers for a long time, and now pretty much use them exclusively, only because their product seems to be adaptable to our poor soil conditions here in Northumberland county. It's hearty enough to take a dry year in our shale fields, tough enough to take some creek flooding and still stand and still give us decent yields.

It's not ideal for us, as like the others, it shells out too easily for our ear storage setup, but hey it's no more sensitive to ear bounce than the rest.

Thanks guys. I am in shale and a dry slot so drought is no.1 with me. I will give those choices a call. I tried TA seed three yrs ago. I had problems with dry and Corvus stunting the corn. TA refused any help with stunted corn. That is after they said I could use corvus on their seed. So the other options are open.

I used to grow 100% Pioneer. Switched from Dekalb in the mid 1980s. I had it go down two years in a row. Had great luck with Pioneer for years until about 10 years ago. Once the company sold, the seed is just over priced and has had standing issues. I tried several brands for several years there. With Golden Harvest Being the best for a lot of years in there.

I then had a field that just would not grow good corn. I soil tested and applied lime. I spread more manure to get the organic matter up. Nothing was working. Then a local feed salesman was at the farm. We where talking about how that one field just was not growing right. He sold Channel seed. He called and got one of their agronomist to come out and look at the field. HE figured out that I had an out break of Goss's Wilt. So I bought some Goss's Wilt resistant seed off of Channel. It grew real well. I slowly switched more acres to Channel. Two years ago we had a wide spread out break of Goss's wilt. The resistant Channel beat every other Brand we raised, My son's included. This last year I only bought Channel. My average yield was the best I have raised so far.

Monsatan has got us especially since they bought Holden Seed. But ALL seed companies are owned by DRUG companies. That should tell you something. I grow Great Lakes but they still have to pay Monsatan royalities for RR. Some in my area are going back to non GMO but the waterhemp is bad.

Go to Google and check the history of Monsatan, from Queeny to today. Count all the acqusitions, bad chemicals and political bed partners. It is the most vial company I indirectly do business with.
