farmall h carb problems

Every time I shut my h off a little bit of gas comes out of the bottom of the carb. Is there any specific reason why? Can I stop it from happening?

Check the carb. bowl vent. Plugged or blocked vent will cause the float/needle not to seat, so carb will drip gas when engine is shut off.

Unless it is a downdraft carb it is going to come down to the bottom. Your intake tube/air cleaner should keep you from knowing about it.

Well if you think about it. When you shut the engine down it spins over a few turns so it is still sucking fuel so when it does stop spinning over the gas has to go some place so it drips out the bottom of the carb. Me I shut the gas off and wait for the engine to die then turn off the ignition so that can not happen

Old is exactly right. Engine makes a few revolutions after shutting switch off so fuel is still being drawn into manifold. Then it runs down to lowest point when stopped. Reason it drips out of bottom of carb is that there is a drip hole , filled with a felt to keep dirt out, but allows gasoline to run out. Hard to stop it completely but the slower you can idle the engine down before shutting off ign will help. As far as a vent, the carburetor is internally bowl vented.

Okay guys thanks for your help. I'll check the vent and if its clear then I'll just shut the fuel off to shut her down. Thanks again
