Does anybody out there know where a guy can find a 710 cap for his vehicle. I"ve seen them on a bunch of different brands but can"t seem to find one to fit mine.......LOL Seriously, does anyone know what I am talking about? Until tonight I had only heard of someone looking for one in a dumb blond joke, but that all changed tonight. Buddy of mine was in one of the local auto parts houses when a guy came in asking for a 710 cap for his car. He didn"t know anything else about it other than most new cars had them, and he needed one for his, since his was broke. The guy behind the counter had no clue what the man wanted and told him he"d have to bring the item in so he could match it up. So, the guy walked back out to his car, popped the hood, and brought his broken 710 cap in.....

Anybody caught on yet, or are you still lost? If you guessed the guy wanted an OIL fill cap for his car then you guessed it right. Seriously, I had only heard of someone asking for one as a joke, and never thought it was possible for anyone to be that dumb, but my buddy stood there and watched it happen with is own eyes....then had to call and tell me the story because he couldn"t believe it either.....

Just goes to show that as dumb as the folks on the other side of the parts counter seem to be at times, there are just as many that are as dumb, or dumber on the customer side of things too.

That is hilarious, but it's too bad that it's true. Not much logic going on there. The parts man might could have sold him some blinker fluid or muffler bearings.

I had heard the joke sometime ago, but am a little surprised that someone would be actually be that ignorant. Wonder where he checks and/or adds oil? But you are right about the customers being dumb or ignorant. I spent the last ten years of my working career behind the parts counter at a dealership and should have made notes, 'cause now I could be writing a book. (And a lot of the techs. in the service dept. ain't too bright either!)

That makes me think, I need to lubricate my muffler bearings next time I change washer fluid and rotate my wipers.

Shadetree:

When you change your washer fluid don't forget to put in Sea Foam. If it'll clean out your fuel system, then you can imagine how well it'll clean your windshield. LOL

Don't laugh, but 'rotating' the wipers actually works sometimes. On my old Jeep they would wipe good one direction but not the other. Once the blade took a set to one side they wouldn't wipe good either way. All I had to do was swap the two blades end to end so it made the trip down the windshield with the 'set' of the blade in the other direction and I could get a few more months out of them before they had to be changed. Yeah, I know, some of us are just way too cheap....LOL

I have done that and when I knew how to get the blade off "have not yet figured out how to change blades on my 2000 Dakota" I would take bleech-white and wash them and they were as good as new, that got the dirt out of the old hard rubber and soffened it to like new. I have gotten 10 years out of a set of winter blades that way.

Wayne, I don't doubt that one bit, especially if they are decent quality blades. But the only ones that I can afford just come apart after a while. About a year ago I needed some blades and stopped by the local Advance store, it had been awhile since I had bought any. When I saw the prices on the things now, I almost s#!t a brick!
