Cub Cadet / what year model

Im looking at this Cub Cadet. What Model and year do you think it is? The guy says 1964 cadet 100, but the fenders dont look right. It runs but has a jerky clutch, He said it needs a disk. Not being a Cub Cadet guy. What are the things to look for. Im looking at it as a winter project.. He asking $200
Thanks, Ray

That is either a Cub Cadet 70 or 100. Only difference between the 2 was horsepower. The fenders aren't original. They were built from 63-65, so it could very well be a 1964. $200 is a fair price. Looks complete. Clutch is no big deal.
Good Luck!!!!

As someone else said it's a 70 or a 100. If it has the original engine and it's a Kohler K161 it would be a 70. If it has a Kohler K241 it would be a 100. Fenders aren't original, I don't even think they're Cub Cadet fenders, the correct Cub Cadet fenders would be round. IMO $200 is a pretty good price if the engine runs good and isn't pumping oil. Even if the motor is weak it would be a fair price. I'm currently mowing with a 70 that has a Kohler K301 (12Hp) in it, least I think it's a 70 because it appears to have the original gas tank with a 7HP sticker.

I think might be older than '64. I thought the starter-generator was replaced by ring gear starter and alternator by then. I know the K241 engine was, not sure about the K161.

My 1969 104 with the K241 and the 1971 129 with the K301 have the starter-generator. No ring gear.

Gosh, does that bring back memories. We had a 107 Hydrostat so that the women, girls in the family could use it without having to shift a manual transmission. Ours was about a 1972 as I recall, and newer than the one you are looking at. Generator or alternator, I have long since forgotten which, looks to be about the same for the Kohler engine on it. Mower deck looks to be about the same as well. Those fenders though. We had a blade for ours as well.

Anyway, good luck. In my opinion, thats the era when they made garden tractors. Steel rails, cast iron front. Back in the day when aerodynamics, and light weight stamped steel and formed plastic didn't mean squat for a garden tractor. These days...

Good luck.
