Where are my keys?

I can't believe I can put something down and it just vanishes. I put my pickup key down somewhere and haven't seen them for a couple days. I know the dog didn't eat them. That dog died. I didn't put them on my back bumper and drive off. I just do that with my glasses. I'm the only one with that problem? I still have one key left so I should be good until that one vanishes. Stan

Go get you a spare key made NOW. Having a spare key made is a lot cheaper than having a locksmith make a house call.

My set fell out of my pocket at Sam's club this morning; I didn't notice them but the clerk did and pointed them out to me so I didn't really lose them - but I would have later on if she hadn't pointed them out to me.

My mother found them in the freezer behind the ice cream- just where she had laid them a week earlier....

You have a truck that needs a key? My truck is so worn out I just turn the ignition. Haven't seen my keys since Halloween when I HAD to lock it up.

My wife can loose more keys than any person known to live. After we got married about once a month she wanted to borrow mine until I found out why I put a stop to that after a week or so she found hers.

I don't seem to have trouble with keys, just the here after. You know, get somewhere and can't remember what I am here after.

ps: I lost a socket set and I am still looking for them!!

Had to call my cell phone just this morning. AGAIN. Why can't someone make a little peeper for key rings. etc etc. I always have five jobs going at once. Once I slow down it will be ok. YA RIGHT.

I learn from TV that if you go though a door to get something and you forget what it was just go back though the door and you will remember what it was. I tried this and sure enough it works.

Sold a truck a few years ago on the road about 1/4 mile from the house. Fellow wanted it and I could not find the key. I did not want to leave the key in it away from the house.
Told him I would bring it to his place to test drive when I found the key. Drove me nuts for a while, then found it in a coat in my other truck.
He is still happy with the truck.

You have one key left? Then carefully walk to your truck, insert key in ignition and drive to nearest hardware or lock and key shop and have a few made. Otherwise you will end up walking!
I used to have problems keeping up with my house keys. I have a separate set of keys for each vehicle, so I had enough house keys made to put with each vehicle key, and a couple extra. Pretty well took care of that problem.

My neighbor lost his keys to both vehicles. Had to have a Chevy man out to replace the locks and re-key them. After the snow melted, I saw him out in the yard and I pulled in to say howdy. When I stepped off of the tractor, I felt something under my foot. It was the keys he'd lost a few weeks before. I said, "Hey Gene - here's the keys you lost". He grabbed them and threw them as far as he could throw them, ha.

Been looking all morning for a JD e-clip, 1", $3.15, I took it out of the package, and it has vaporized off into the ozone. Not in the barn, not on tractor wheel, not in the house, not in the sock drawer, not the couch cushions, not my chair...... Just got back from JD dealer, ordered two more. Be here Friday.

This is foolproof. Remember the last place you put it and walk right over and pick it up. At least that's what my wife always asks. "Where did you lose it?" If I knew that I'd go get it.

I leave the key in the vehicle and use the keyless entry fob to lock and unlock the doors. Once last spring I was 40 mi from home at the Menards store, locked the door with the switch on the door panel......when I came out the fob wouldn't open the doors. I had the fob from my other truck. Spare hideout key now, won't start the truck (no chip) but it will open the doors!

I seem to have a lot of tools that get up and walk off. They usually turn up on the shelf at Orcheln's. I am missing a set of keys, but I haven't seen them up there yet.

Get a spare made and carry it in your pocket. Unless you lock your britches in the truck you should have it with you. And I'm sure a good thief can find that hidden key. Sure, he can find the one in your pocket, but it might take a little more persuasion for the thief to get it.

That is vhat they make pockest in "MENS" trousers for.
Any one that can't remember where they put their keys, I don't feel sorry for them.

Well now, talking about keys! Took the boat out on the river the other day to run it a bit before winterizing it. It was a nice day so I though I'd do some fishin. Only makes sense since I'm on the river anyway. Drove up river aways and sucked some moss into the jet pump, leaned over the back to clear the moss and heard a "blop". Looked down and saw my keys making their way to the bottom. Oops! Well, no chance to recover them due to current and drift, never be able to find the same spot. So what do I do? Call the wife or go fishin? Went fish and caught some nice small mouth, then called the wife. It was a great day on the river!!!

As soon as I start to look for something I lost, I forget what I"m looking for, so it ends there.

More seriously, a crow may have taken your keys. If you set it down outside and it was glistening in the sun, things like keys attract crows and they fly off with them.

Since I put a spare truck key on the truck AND another one in my wallet, I haven't lost one. You guys ought to try that.

Needed a tool that I knew I had (battery terminal cleaner or such). Looked all over for it, Finally bought a new one, used it and deciding where to store it placed it exactly beside the one that I knew I had! Maybe lay your other key down and presto.

Don"t feel bad, I"ve got a heavy coat I"ve had for nearly 20 years that has suddenly disappeared....

For years I kept an extra key in the air cleaner. Then they decided to put the hood release INSIDE the cab! Rats! For awhile, an extra key wire tied inside the fuel cap door. Now it"s an extra key in the wallet. I never locked myself out of a vehicle until I bought one with elec locks! Each one, took all of two weeks!

It happens to me about every time I turn around then I forget what I turned around for and end up in a mell of a hess.I try putting things in one spot but then I forget where the spot is .

I can tell you what happened to your coat. Your wife burned it!

My mother did that to my dad one time. He had this ratty old green coat that was literally patched with grey duct tape....he loved that old coat. Mother would get mad at him for wearing it to town...she had a certain "image" she thought he should portray. You know how women are. Anyhow, his coat comes up missing....he looks everywhere, can't find it. She denies knowing anything about it.....finally admitting that she burned it. Wow.....that's when the crap hit the fan and I mean BIG time. Wow, did he get mad!

Don't think my wife would have done that as she know it would be a huge SHTF situation if she did....On the other hand I've got a buddy staying with is that might have worn it and forgot and left it laying somewhere.....As it stands I don't know anything for sure, and I can't prove anything to place any blame, and that's what really bothers me about the whole situation...

I find losing your keys is like a lot of other things. I drive in big city traffic everyday. If you get in a hurry you get in trouble. Same thing with losing stuff. Take the time to put it away. Had a boss once that had signs everywhere, but one said There is a place for everything and everything in its place. Done preachin . . that's all.
