Super m not starting

I have a farmall super m ser. Number sm951j . It will not start.
The carb is clean , new fuel , fire and what seems like good
compression . I pulled the valve cover off and all the valves
are opening and closing . I even sprayed gas in the back of the
carb , nothing not even a kick.
Let me know your thoughts , thanks

If it won't kick on the gas it doesn't have fire or fire at the right time. Have you flooded it? Change the plugs.

All the fire in the world will not make it start if you dont have compression just because the valves are moving doesent mean enough compression to make it run.

I had one with that problem. Everything seemed ok but could not even get any response when I sprayed starting fluid into the carb. I finally took the carb apart and cleaned and rebuit it. Put the carb back on the tractor and it started instantly when I pushed the starter lever. It now starts on the first flip of the engine.

Has any major work been done to the engine? Such as being disassembled? How are you checking your spark? The spark acts much differently under compression than it does out at atmospheric pressure. If you have a vacuum leak it will not suck gas thru the carb or if your cam to crank timing is incorrect it doesn't matter where your distributor rotor is pointing. Make sure both valves are closed on the cylinder you are checking and make sure your rotor is pointing to that cylinder then make sure that piston is at top dead center. Then make sure you know which way your rotor turns and time the wires on the distributor cap according to the firing order. This is what to look for if your crank and cam are timed correctly. You need 4 things to make an engine run.

1. Fuel
2. Air
3. Compression
4. Ignition (at the right time)
