This is a set of planters Dad had. Almost killed My Brother. The thing that saved him was he was that He was striking the first row and was going slow and had his foot on the clutch. It pushed him forward and caused his foot to go down and stop the tractor. He was twelve and was fanatical about having his rows straight. That is our youngest brother also in the picture he was there to help and was sitting on our other 3010 hooked to a disc. When it happened he was pinned against the steering wheel and called out to him for help. He jumped off the tractor and and caught his pants cuff on one of the pedals and was hanging upside down. Older brother had to wiggle around get the tractor in reverse and get himself out and go rescue our younger brother. Sorry about the quality its a picture of a copy of a copy.

How did that planter up end like that ?

When I was a kid, and to this day I will never understand how it happened, one of the help was spreading manure with our 2010 JD, wide front with a front end loader, on the hill side field behind one of the barns. The 2010 ended up loader first onto the 2nd floor of what was a very large and well framed barn, the floor on that side had large joists, tongue and groove floor. All I can figure was speed was a factor, I don't recall how they got it out, wish my father took a polaroid of that one, only thing I saw was the hole it made. Loader saved it from damage too, some of the strangest things that happen on a farm.

lucky that day what made it come up? we had a neighbor going down the road he stoped at the stop sign jr behind with 2 tractor didnt also interesting pic and nice nobody gets hurt well maybe im not sure if jr was to old to spank!!

Billy that thing mounted and pivoted under the bell housing held in place with a pin. You had to take the lift arms off and there was chains that connected to where the lift arms were. When it came unhitched under the belly it caught under the back tires and flipped up. What you can't see in the pictures is the pipe part that went under the tractor.

Ok, mounted, and or mid mount/hitch, with enough under the belly that if run over by the rear wheels, forced it up. Thats one of those things where a .25 cent pin or similar, causes a bad situation, seems to be very common with farm equipment, and even the best maintained, looked after by an experienced hand. I can think of a number of these things that have happened over the years. Sure sounds like someone was watching over, given how it happened and the results, can't imagine being caught by surprise like that, and living to tell about it.
