Son Installed a C.D. player last summer so I could Play C.D. while working the Loader. I recorded this tune years ago,it was first recorded and became a hit for the "Platers" back in the 50's.
Dancing was the thing that had class rather then standing in the middle of the dance floor with the appearance of suffering from a dose of ITCH POWDER being put in the patrons underwear. I sent my C.D to my friend so he to can remember what dancing music was. The sound quality isn't the best and the layered instrument quality lacks polish on this video ,however it still is the sound folks of my era enjoyed. Son put in a quality system in the tractor that gathers all the nuance that i enjoy. Clear B-3 sound as does the electric guitar, bass, drums, piano. Do you older fellows remember the dancing and the tune,Smoke gets in your eyes? LOU.

Funny story. Several years ago we were all combining Wheat and trying to beat a hail storm. The neighbor and his son was cutting and the son pulled out of the field and went to the shop. His Dad kept cutting, and later asked what broke. Son said the radio quit. I don't think the smoke was from the radio. Ha Ha

Listen as I might, I couldn't come up with a similarity between your version and the Platter's, with which I am familiar.

Do I ever remember! When I was just a youngster, about all Dad listened to was the news, farm reports, and the weather, as I got older I began to listen to "pop" or popular music, such as Sinatra, Crosby,Les Paul and Mary Ford, etc. Then In the mid fifties, Rock-N-Roll hit the airwaves. My generation jumped on it like a chicken on a fresh cow pie! Chuck, Fats, The Platters, The Diamonds, etc. etc. ad infinitum. It was not until years later, and continues even now, that I discovered many of those songs were written in the twenties, thirties, and forties, and recorded by Glenn Miller, The Dorsey Brothers, and many more. They were just given a facelift and different beat.
I composed this for a young friend of mine just the other day.
I like to hum when the guitars strum,
Turn my back on country? Never!
But when it hit the street, I dug the beat,
And I'll Rock-N-Roll forever!

Mike Thanks for the reply. There wouldn't be any similarities at all. The Platers version is a Commercial version(one of the first ones out) and my version is performed in the Jazz version. Sort of like comparing apples with oranges lol.

Shadetree. Yep.still nothing(IMHO) beats Sinatra,T.Bennett,Oscar Peterson. I was brought up with this venue. R&R ruined the music thanks to Dick Clark and his meddling for profit (Payola)Another Phony was Lill Richard with his POUNDING of the keys. Now if you listen closely to the sound on films, of drum beat that is passed off as music, you will see what I mean. Rap is another fiasco that is all the cheap redundant sound that is considered "HIP".Basie was the master of big band composers and arrangers, along with Sinatra's arranger and conductor(Nelson Riddle) . Really some great masters that still arrange for films (Jerry Goldstein's) ect. I seldom ever listen unless the conductors/ composers are listed on the credits preceding the film. Again, it's JMHO. Thanks for the reply. Real dancing is a thing of the past. No more Gene Kelly, James Cagney. LOU.

Lou,Maybe Shadetree said it better then I will, but music has never changed its forms in the last 100 yrs or so.When you speak or praise any singer, they maybe have some very-very good music out there but they also some(music) out there you can't stand and wouldn't go to the next room to listen to.So it is not fair to brag one up and put someone else down.As far as Jazz,I can't think of any good person(music) since the 30s-40s.But I do agree we are running out of some better ones.

Massey333.If you truly think music hasn't changed it's format in 100 ,years, better think again. People conclude that hip hop, rap, punk rock and all the other trash thats was out there and still is,is music, that opinion surely is for dead heads who couldn't put harmony through any instrument even a jews harp. It (music???) has turned to promoters like the good old days of Clarks payola.Talent was skipped and buried with the incoming so called beat. WOW I DIG THE BEAT! yea right. Crapola was promoted to the parents while the kiddies was in school. Promoters pushed the crap on to parents ,so they could be in the know with their kiddies. Now you have me wondering ,WHAT CREDENTIALS YOU CARY TO THE MUSIC WORLD??? I would love to listen to your musical ability, when ever you have the gumption to perform . You post concerning music has NO MERRITT at ALL!!!! I have never been impressed by opinion only proof of fact. Stick to farming or what ever you do or did for a living rather then trying to give out a worthless non base opinion. I can truly understand the lackluster Jazz music holds for you. no respect from; LOU.

Thank you for the kind words Lou.It just shows you can't stand anybody that isn't in 100% total agreement with you.

Massey333 your welcome. I really dislike folks who think they have the right to place an opinion when in fact they know nothing on the subject. Lots of that goes on here. when you supply us with your rendition(played by you) SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES. then I'll ,eat crow.lol. I could have been cruel and told you I just cant cure stupid.Your welcome to my comments and be advised , in your situation, re-reading my response just might make you a better person. JMO. LOU.
