Central Pneumatic air compressor @ Harbor Freight

I buy hand tools from HF but I would pass on the air compressors unless it is a small one that you are going to use to air up some tires.

Rural King has sales every so often plus senior discount once a month I think. They carry IR and Quincy. If you want to save money, get a 60 gallon one and add a small lp tank to your system also.

Don't buy it I went through 2 of them now I bought a good name brand older from a Pawn shop and it has lasted for a long time with no trouble.

Not to mention that "Central Pneumatic" does not physically exist. It is simply a sticker that is put on stuff imported from "The Land of Almost Right"!

I bought one of their 60 gallon dual stage compressors about 3 years ago. Fortunately it was just before the 20% coupons wern't applicable to compressors etc. so I got it for $600 something. It has been great but every compressor I have I get some tin and form a duct that forces all the cooling air over the fins. That way the compressors never gets hot enough to damage anything (warp heads, etc). I did that to one of their twin cylinder single stage compressors, in another house, that I run at 1/3 faster than recommended speed and 15 pounds higher than maximum recommended pressure. It has been running fine for 15 years.

I sold a motor home that had been sitting a couple of years. When the buyer came to pick it up he brought an HF small compressor and impact to change a flat tire and install the spare tire. It would not budge the lug nuts. I took my 1/2" 18v Snapon impact and got the job done fast. He could not believe the cordless was that powerful.

The main thing is to buy more compressure than you need so you don't over work it. We had a great one on an Army Base where I worked you had to set the control lever at start position then turn on power when it got going but very slow you pulled the lever to run position then hope it didn't blow those huge buss fuses. If all went OK then it would supply all the air for the base. This thing had to be made sometime in the twenties it's hard beat some of those old machines they were made to last forever.
