Stinky Job Today with PIC

They company I raise chickens for finally came and got the last of them for this turn. I have until Jan 23 to get the building clean and ready for the next batch of pullets. My friend is getting all the manure this time, he raises organic row crop, in addition to my small pile he has turkey compost hauled in by the truckload. We started at about 11:00 and ended up hauling five loads in his nephews dump truck, last load left at 5:00. He has to haul it nine miles to his house and dumps it, then pushes it into a large pile with his loader before coming back. We have one more building to empty but I'll be using some of that to spread on my pasture as well. That is Tom standing by the truck, he runs all AC tractors but I dont hold that against him.

Answers to the questions I'm always asked:
This is central Iowa. Each barn holds 13,000 chicks,I have two barns sharing a middle wall and they are mirror images of each other . I raise them for 16 weeks then they come and take them to a layer barn.

Hey Nate, at least it wasn't 98 degrees and humid. Wasn't aware you had gotten into such a "fowl" business. Still raising sheep as well?

I always have to laugh at "Organic Farming"
Ecolie break outs (manure born bacteria).
Low crop production---no weed control, other than hand weeding, and ??natural weed deturants??
Even the average gardener has problems with producing vegies free of insect and herbal damage trying to manage an "organic garden" The only thing that saves these nitch "Organic Producers", is todays stupid consumers, who think "Organic" is better/safer, and pay w-a-a-y too much for the lable.
