OT thought for the day

When I reflect upon the number of disagreeable people who I know have gone to a better world, I am moved to lead a different life.
--Pudd'nhead Wilson's Calendar

Came upon this while reading Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain. I hope it is not too OT for folks.

Zachary,

About 5 years ago my wife retired from teaching English in Middle and High School for 32 years.

For the last few years that she taught, she was forbidden to teach Mark Twain because he was so politcally incorrect by today's standards.

Educational hierarchy - you gotta' love 'em.

Maybe that's why some of the problems exist today. Mark Twain, Will Rogers, and others were not "politically" correct, But they WERE CORRECT with most of their observations.

Yep, I can't imagine any publication today brave enough to publish such things as Twain's essay on Chang and Eng, the Siamese twins. He reported that the two had many differences---among other things, one was a nnalert, one a nnalert; they took different sides during the Civil War, and they took each other prisoner during one battle. One of their bigger problems was that one was a heavy drinker and the other was a tee-totaler.
