I have found the serial and model number from my dad's old tractor but have been unable to find info in serial numbers section of web page. Could someone help a city boy learn?

The plate to the left of crankcase says:
International Harvester
Model H

Say you need something specific like oh a
manifold, search for Farmall H manifold, or carb
kit or whatever you may need for it. Some parts
interchange with other models, such as points,
plugs, etc. Some dont like sheet metal, engine
parts etc. Now if your looking for specific
information about when it was built, sold new to &
where, you may not find alot of that, unless you
know the dealer it came from, who may still have
the records, but dont get your hopes up. There is
a chart out there that tells the date the tractor
was built down to the month and day, butthats as
far as Ive ever been able to go on many of the
tractors Ive had/see/worked on. Hop over to the
Farmall board, youll get more repsonces, and there
are other places as well, such as Red Power, ATF,
etc to obtain info.

Congrats on owning one of the most popular tractors
of all time.IH made 380,000 + from 39 -52.Only the N
series Ford was made in greater numbers. There are a
bazillion parts out there. easy to
find.New,Used,aftermarket,NOS....The H is a useful
all around little tractor.Add a 3point it becomes
even more so.Popular at shows. They are a perfect
starter tractor, simple to work on.Happy tractoring!! Steve

I've got several IH's and Olivers, big and small. The tractor I get along with the best and gets the most hours put on it is a good ole H. Can't beat it. Oh, and it cost me quite a bit less than some of these others!

Thanks for all the responses!!! Decision time now..

Thank you for all the help, you guys helping me narrow down the vast amounts of information on the internet has been a big help!!
I saw on another web page that these were produced to burn different fuels. How can I find out whether it burns gasoline or diesel?

There wasnt a diesel H, they could burn kerosene,
distillate or gas. If there is a small starting tank
near the oil and temp gauges, it was a kerosene or
distillate model, if not then a straight gas model.
You can run it on straight gas all the time, wont
hurt anything. Kerosene and distillate models were
started on gas from the small tank, then switched
over to run the other.
