cockshutt/gm292

Have a cockshutt 40 that has a gm 292 engine in it and engine needs a standard size piston and rod and cap. A number of combines/trucks used this engine so would like to get a govenor too? Whole engine? Thanks Dave

Wilson, Have some pictures if you"re interested but basically it looks like the previous owner just took a half inch thick piece of plate steel cut to size to fit between the engine bell housing and the cockshutts and cut out around the rear section of the 292 engine to make enough room to allow using the regular cockshutt tractors starter. Not a 100% certain but it appears they used the Buda flywheel and everything else that would normally go with a regular Cockshutt. Haven"t had it running.

Walt, Thanks! Will check again as was following some in Clayton,NY that were a 3hr. drive from here and the starting bid price was a little more then what was in the "budget". Also wasn't sure as to whether the pistons were of the standard size? Quite a few of the gm 292's get bored out when they're overhauled because they're an engine that is quite adaptable to being tweaked to get much more HP then original. Dave
