OT Cutting squash open

My wifes group has 3 or 4 bushels of squash to cut and cook tomorrow. Does anyone have a good way to cut them. They have used a hammer and knife in past years. Thanks Ivan

Mom & Dad used to grow those old blue hubbard squash. Dad always threw them down the basement stairs to break them on the concrete floor below. Sawzall is probably a better idea, but use a new blade not one full of chips.

Mom just puts the whole thing in the oven, then slices them easily with a knife and scoops the guts out. Been doing it that way for years now.

I got my wife a small Stanley hand saw. She uses it often for just that chore.
She won't let me near it for woodwork lol

Just put them whole in the microwave for ~5 minutes. Will split easily with a knife. Wife has been doing this for years.
