Foam filled tires

Sad part about foam filled tires they can ruin the equipment such as the rims and suspension. I've seen it happen before. Foam filled tires are okay on slow moving equipment but that's about it.

Foam filled tires are for SLOW moving heavy equipment that will be traveling over sharp broken rock, etc. . NOT for highway usage! And when the tire is worn past it's serviceable life (20% or more cord showing) the tire AND rim have to be thrown away. The only way to remove the tire (and foam) is to burn it off. Your neighbors, Fire Dept., the EPA, & anyone else that's DOWNWIND will love you. - Sarcasm intended.

I worked for a Mining company that foamed a lot of their heavy equipment tires. We tried burning a tire with foam off of a $5000. heavy equip. rim and all it did was make a big mess and took all the temper out of the rim (which we had to throw away). Not to mention the STENCH caused by the burning rubber & foam.

I have foam filled tires on my bat wing mower and front tires on the mower tractor and it worked fine until I ran over a deer antler with the back tractor tire, Dang!

re-invention of the wheel, thats kind of nuts... may as well just stick with the steel wheels.
wonder how much hay he has left when he gets home.i give it a vote for useless invention.

I would think the imbalance in those would tear an axle off at road speeds. Those are a low speed deal period. He must have been moving hay very slow.

I have a few friends in the concrete business, the run them on the fronts of their backhoes. They say it completely ruins the ride as it takes any cushion that you had in the front wheel out.
They run solids on their skidsteers and a few track machines as much as they can.

Sounds like the guy made a 1k mistake and by 200 miles, he couldnt take it anymore so decided to try to ditch them on CL. 45 pennys on the dollar ASKING price, bet he goes down to 20 pennys or less before its done...

Notice how the ad says "lower speed", not 10 mph or under or something like that? Ya, he is trying to sucker the next guy. Did you see how he put in "could consider some possible trades"? He knows its going to be a hard sell even without putting all the honist info in the ad so he is leaving the door open to get ANYTHING for them. Got an old rusted out shotgun to trade? He will take it. Got an old Pinto with a blow engine on cement blocks? That will bring a buck fifty over the scales.... he will take it. Got a set of rusty trailer rims with bologna skins on it so he can start over with new tires? Sold.

I see these ads all the time, just gotta read between the lines. Thats what you get when you have a wide readership and a no cost ad, AKA the "Hail Mary ad".

Little too fast on the speed reading here maybe guys? I read the ad to say that he pulled it pretty much only behind his TRACTOR. 200 miles maybe in two trips, but I expect that more likely over a few years behind the tractor.

I picked up on that when he said pulling with his tractor.

My concern is the guy that buys them and says "that seller doesn"t know what he is talking about going slow" then goes and bolts them on and goes 60mph. Then when the wheel rips off, there is a giant "rock" flying down the expressway.

I helped my buddy put a foamed filled one on his Cat 426 backhoe, if I recall it was 12.5/80-18, and it had to weigh close to 300-350lbs.

I swear those are ones I sold a few years ago. They were purchased new by a business to fit a Chevy pickup. Bought by the company in preparation for a possible union strike so scabs could drive a company truck in and not get a flat from nails, etc. Mostly an intimidation factor, strike never occurred. Tires were thrown out! Really, really heavy. If they had been used I suspect the rim center or spindle would've broke from the rotating mass. Especially since foam filling is not perfect.
