I"m have a 9n and it kills the battery and fries th alternater. T was converted to 12 volts before got my hands on it and I have not been able to get it to work correctly..

I agree, lots of great guys on the N forum.
Is it a GM 10/12si setup? One wire alternator or 3 wire?
Google wiring diagrams by JMOR, he has made some really nice,
easy to read pictograms of the wiring for all N's, converted or not.

Kills the battery and fries the alternator sound like you are installing the battery back wards as in you hooking it up + ground which will fry the alternator and kill the battery.
But that said more info is needed as to what you have and all plus as told the 9N/2N/8N forum is the best place to ask
