How'd He Make Out???

Back a few months ago, TV or JD or someone had a neighbor who had an accident in the silo, and he was filling in for him. How is the neighbor doing, and how did things progress through the summer???

You"re talking about Steve, a friend of JD Seller. I"ve been wondering too, but I guess JD S declines posting since someone complained about his report of he and a crew harvesting 106,000 bu of corn in one day. I wish he"d come back- always good advice and a wealth of experience.

I agree JD is a constant positive addition to the site. He is missed. There is no cause to question the validity of any poster's personal experiences. Jim

I couldn't agree more, Jim.
Jd's posts were always nicely done, and informative.
I also agree there's no reason to question a person's experiences.
But to get so upset over that you stomp off and leave??

C'mon, Man up a little.....

The last report that I remember reading, JD said the boy was coming along quite well. But was going to take a lot of time. IIRC.

As I understand the situation he also got some very ugly emails & phone calls. It appears some folks are only happy when they can attack someone.

I do miss JD's posts too. As to the 100,000+ bushels in a day, I did some math on this and it can happen even though those combines aren't the biggest available. We all have that one big lucky day once-in-awhile when everything clicks right. We did 1000 acres of wheat with 5 2388's one time when 500 acres was pretty good for these machines. It was in extreme eastern Colorado where the wheat doesn't yield worth a hoot and the 1/4 section fields were adjoining each other, so it CAN happen. Jim

JD was always going the extra mile to help others, such as posting drawings of transmissions and such.. Seems like a good guy...

I miss his posts too - I've learned a lot reading them over the years. It also seems that the people with the most knowledge (JD Seller, Mr. Schweibert and many others)are also the most civil.
Maybe it's because they don't have anything to prove. Hopefully he'll come back

Not to steal the thread, but did calculations on neighbor running two 12 r machines. Figured they were roughly running 1800 bu/hour per machine. No breakdowns,no stopping, unload on the go into carts, enough semi's haul corn away from combine. With 3 machines like that running you could hit 106 K bushels in 19.6 hours. Less hrs probably if in some high yielding corn. It sounds unbelievable if you have not been around a modern corn harvest with todays high capacity machines. But 100K day is doable. No reason to not believe it. (Need some hired or family help also). Heard from another taler a Lexion 760 may hold the world record in harvest rate at 5994 bu/hour.(might be in wheat, not sure,on You Tube)

That Lexion was in corn with a 16 row head. And it was brand new with unworn parts. It also was adjusted for capacity, not grain quality. It was run by Jeff Gray, lexion's top man here in the US.The clean grain elevator on those big Lexions has more capacity than the grain leg at some elevators. Jim

Who would actually take the time to call a random person to claim they didn't do what they said?? I barely have time to make the phone calls I need to make, let along call people just to make their life miserable.

I do not want to hurt anybody's feelings but there is always going to be jerks who can only get off by talking down someone to else.
If you are on an open forum you just have to ignore them and they will go bother someone else. I do not know JD, but I like his posts.

I have been to busy to be on much lately so reading this made me aware that JD is not on.I hope he returns as he has answered several questions for me and I always like his posts.I wish I had neighbors like him.Why do some people want to tear up others posts? If I can not add something good I do not add anything and if I do not like a post I just skip over it,life is to short to waste time setting everyone strait. And I certanly do not have all the answers or all the problems either.LOL

Actually... it peaked at 6300 B/h but the daily total for 10 hours was a touch over 51000 B.

I don't think there was anything particularly prolific about what they did with the 760 that day... It'd more or less do that every day with quite a few operators if they had the capacity to haul the corn away.
