Pacemaker/Defib

I've had one for years. Am on my second one, batteries wore out after 5 years so they installed a new one. Best thing I ever did, no complaints. Its just a day thing, you should be home the same day.

Not I , but My brother had one, they had him on Cumiden ( spelling ) he bruised easily, ..Know of two more .. one recently .. life changing .. no welding , no microwaves.
Neighbor got one, loves yard sales , but giving up car swap meets .. too tiring for him.

They wanted to give me one but changed their minds it's not easy to love with they told it can shock you at any time your heart gets off beat since I have heart arithmia where I mine will not beat right they thought that it would drive me crazy. I take
Amoidarone for my arithmia it's works great for me but I'm in the 10% that can take it. Talk it over with your doctor before getting one. Look it up on google to see the good and the bad these little machines can and will save your life but also make it a miserable one. Don't go into this without the best advise you can get from a cardiologist not an MD. I was lucky I have Kaiser ins and they talked to several experts on them and determined it might not be the best thing for me.

That no welding and no microwaves is just a bunch of old wives tales. I weld as much as I ever did, with no problems (not full time) and use the microwave every day. The new technology on them is fantastic, newest generation you don't even go in to have them checked, can do it over the phone.

I got one back in Feb .
I am still trying to get use to having it.
The biggest problem is shortness of breath.
I also can not pull a lot with my left arm like I use to. Feels strange . My pacemaker is on my left side.
Also can not do much over head with my arms ether.

Son has one, as a result of improper growth of the heart tissue when he was young, and CHF. His has never triggered in the three years he"s had it. He works in computer industry - has welded and run chainsaws. His has a unit on the dresser in his bedroom that connects to the phone lines. Apparently downloads data from time to time, and then forwards the data to the hospital. Was a brand new unit on the market when he got it. But he"s had no problems, think you will find the same thing. And if you do need it, you"ll be glad you had it.

In 1998 I had 3rd degree heart block (heart stopped but restarted). If it wasn't for the pacemaker I wouldn't be typing this. It was replaced in 2010. I hobby farm, raise a large garden and collect tractors and garden tractors. The old pacemakers were affected by microwaves, chainsaws etc. however the new generation units are not affected. Because of the pacemaker I have seen our daughter graduate from graduate school, marry and give us two granddaughters.

Got one. Guess it works,I'm still here. When I go to Dr they print out 37 pages of info. Told me last time that it kicked in on a certain date at a certain time.I know nothing about that date or time,so I guess all is well.

Thanks for all the feedback, 2nd Doc seema doubtful that I need it, after checking me.. wants to do more tests before they decide.. After talking to him, I feel better about it IF I need it..
Thanks

I've had one since 2007. get one if they offer it. I didn't think I needed it but thru the years; they have used to pacemaker side to help me out and it surely does. battery went dead this summer and I sure knew it. defib has about 1 episode every 3 months! never has buzzed me but that shows you how close I am.
