Been getting pears worked up and put in the freezer. Pealing, coring, and slicing takes time. About 1/2 way done. Have 6 quarts in the freezer now. Had to stop yesterday as I ran out of lemon juice. I have a 5 gallon bucket to go. Will get more lemon juice when I'm in town today

Will be interested in how they turn out- I've heard that freezing breaks down the cell structure in pears and they turn into slime.

We've froze pears before and never had any problems. We slice them before freezing and just use them for making pies and tarts.
Lemon juice keeps them from turning brown. It's a lot cheaper them the fruit fresh and it does the same thing

My neighbor had an abundance of asian pears last year, and we made pear butter out of some of them. Same process as apple butter, only made in a big roaster like you see at all the church dinners. It WAS pretty tasty stuff. All gone now, ha.

Been dong pears and apple and tomato's. Did brandy pears and a few other type of pears but we can them so that we do not need power to keep them good
