NEW HOLLAND 68 BALER good or bad?

The NH68 and Super 68 in there day where some of the best out there. I have a NH271 which for the most part is a newer 68 and many parts fit on my 271 I know since I use a 68 for a parts machine
 
IMO One of the soundest , easy to work on, and just a great baler . Have had three and still use one here in a pinch.
 
Hi Jim, It was a high volume selling baler with an excellent reputation. Remember tho, the baler
is 56 or 57 yrs old and so it is how it has been
kept up-stored indoors or out and how serviced.

I have had a 67 for 10 years and this year got a 68 which is almost all the same. The 67/68 is a good simple easy to work on baler and fairly reliable, at least for me.

The plunger rides on wood rails rather than bearings like the newer models so they do require some maintenance adjustment and occasional replacement. If I remember correctly we got about 20,000 bales between replacement of the rails.
 
I have a NH-69 and now have a NH-269 super, both very good machines, many parts will interchange. New parts are pricey...but new parts for anything are. The old 69 likes to be loaded heavy to make the best bales.
 
agreed with all stated ,, however the 68 nh baler that I have has a slight flaw,, spent too many days in the rain with hay filth rotting all over it, p owner did little seasonal clean to prevent rust ,, behind the pikup area is the chain driven race track for the teeth to push hay into the bale chamber ,.the flat area rusted out and had to be rebuilt because the race track rocked out of control and nearly made a ugly mess ,,you can remove rear panel wing nuts or at very least open the rear door and look for rusted thru anchor points ... not a hard fix ,, but a MUST FIX BEFORE THE BALER DESTROYS ITSELF
 
I have a 268 it's a very good baler and not much difference between it and the 68 except mine is much lower.
Both are very good machines.
