A quote from the local paper. "Richland Township Fire Chief Calvin Callison said the fire started in the rear of the home, near a wooden stove. However, the cause of the fire is unknown."

Shouldn't need the Fire Marshal to tell them you shouldn't have a wooden stove. Only in Montcalm County. lol

Sounds like our local paper, if there is anything in it and that is unlikely then it will not be correct. Like a person in a wreck going north on an east-west road or west of town when the actual location is to the east of the town. And I worked for them as a rual delievery driver for around 15 years.

I built a stove like that out of old pallets. Saved a lot of money on the material. The only problem I had was it only lasted for one day when I used it to heat my shop.

Cow Chips = High Desert firewood; they work great, burn hot, little ash, no smell, & cheap (FREE).

Use them quite a lot when camping, freaks out the "Tourists" in campgrounds. Even barbecue steaks over them on an open grill.

Journalism is not what it once was...or maybe it is. Anytime there is a a shooting the BG is always using an "AK47 machine gun!" even if it's a single shot shotgun. If it's a handgun, it's "Glock, invisible to x-rays!" even if it was a cheap 1960's RG revolver. Accuracy went out with skinny ties and pocket protectors.
