ok have an h that when working hard, will shut off and die, if I take off my inline filter and let fuel flow through both and reconnect it fires up and runs for a few minutes and does the same, ive tried running with out fuel cap, take isn"t air bound only thing I can think of is carb float may be some how closing off while running, its not electrical as it wont start unless pull filter or let sit a few minutes, any pointers or anyone have this happen before

In line fuel filter??? These old tractors came wit ha sediment bowl filter system and it has been all that is needed for 50 plus years. Throw that in line filter as far from the tractor as you can and hook the line up with out it and I bet your problem will go where you threw it as in the in line filter is your problem. Been throwing them away for over a decade now and yep seen that to to to many times

Check for quality spark!! Use a jump gap tester in the wire from coil to cap with about a 1/4" gap to PROVE that your problem is or is NOT SPARK RELATED!
Poor spark that occurs with heat buildup will act like a fuel problem; when things cool off then the engine will run again for a time.
TEST, DON'T GUESS!

Old neighbor's AC 175 was doing that. Found some dead wasps drifting around in the gas tank. When he'd get going they'd pull down over the pipe & shut the fuel off. Engine would die, suction would stop, and the wasps would drift away. Good luck!

Remove that rubber line and filter and install correct steel line for starters. Rubber gas lines don't fare so well with engine fire.

Yes you do throw them away when they get plugged but first you need to find out if it is plugged some as it just does its job of catching stuff the sediment screen will pass. Ive been using them for many yrs and some have been on the tractor for a long itme so i guess the tank no longer has fines.

If the sediment bowl is as it should be it will catch all that need to be. A in line filter is a good way to find a fire and I'll never use on and will never tell some they should. Do as you want but I'll not tell people to do so
